Confirmed the victim of an incident in Great Junction Street on New Year's morning played for the Rose prior to taking a break from football to spend more time with his family. Tragic.

Played with Shaun at Leith many years ago. Very laid back and polite guy who had a young family.

I just found out that my sons girlfriend went out with him a few years back, seemingly a nice bloke too, very sad.

One of Darren McGregor and Danny Swanson's good mates. Very sad indeed and just shows that their are still a lot of idiots walking our streets and not afraid to attack people for no apparent reason. Hope justice is served properly. Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

This was a bit of a shock my younger son played with him at Newtongrange Star for a couple of seasons and was a decent player but made a decision to return to Whitehill Welfare. Shaun was a genuine bloke and will be a massive loss to his family. Would be nice if Bonnyrigg and Hibs could make a donation towards his family from the cup game at swinney that includes the Hertz as well.

Me neither, but a 16 year old has been charged today.
Didn't know him personally, but he sat a few seats away from me at a game a few months back, and I'm sure I've seen him at development games.

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of a former junior footballer, who was described as a “true gentleman”.

No one has been convicted the Police are still investigating and appealing for information. Then there has to be a trial.

really sad news and for me personally hard to take in, played with shaun at newtongrange star for a good few years. really nice guy with a young family
and for his life to be cut short because of a couple of neds acting the tough men is shocking and I hope they rot in hell
