Murder in Leith

Sad to hear of the death of a guy whom i knew. Was murdered last night in Leith. The guy was a quiet man who wouldnt harm a fly. RIP Shaun

He played with Whitehill Welfare before joining Newtongrange Star and then Bonnyrigg Rose. Top bloke and very good centre half. Can't quite believe what's happened.

Terrible thing to happen, hopefully his daughter gets all the support she is going to need.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

Didn't know him personally but there were quite a few guys in my year at school that played football with him so have the various online tributes.

The two teenagers responsible were apparently starting on various people down on GJS and were looking for a confrontation.

As far as i'm concerned these two should get charged with murder but our pathetic legal system will probably only charge them with manslaughter :rolleyes:

They'll go to Polmont young offenders and get it easy for a few years which is also wrong.

Maybe legally that is what happened? Can't rig them up on a murder charge each just because feelings are running high.

Our "pathetic legal system" can't charge them with manslaughter.

It can, however, permit them a fair trial and allow the actual story to be established.

Just children themselves, especially the younger of the two. Ruined their own lives, too. I'm sure the circumstances will be revealed eventually, but it's hard to grasp what can bring folk so young to that kind of situation. Terrible tragedy all round; a young father who should have had his whole life ahead him. Awful.
