Really disappointed with Hibs, who knew about these problems and done nothing to change.

A wee tip for people. I (not being a season ticket holder) found that I could not buy tickets on behalf of my father and his friends using my account. I used his account and like a lot of people the system appeared to crash at the very last screen awaiting confirmation number. I haven't been able to check for a confirmation email however if you go to "Account History" you can see if any items have been purchased. Click on the account Name(Client Ref No.) and then you will get a history button.
I had went through the purchasing process prior to doing this and at the stage where I tried to assign the tickets I got errors so I suppose this too was an indication process had been successful (hopefully). Good luck folks!

Hibs will have paid for the "lite" version to save cash. If they're paying more than 10p to Ticketmaster they are being ripped off ! Also suspect the validation & interaction with Hibs database screws things up - something which is not an issue for general ticket sales. Would have been better to just have Bonnyrigg Rose or Hearts sell them.

And the majority of that 500 could not be bothered. So they brought in the AST's for a minority.
I dont really give a flying one. As i said in a previous post, in nigh on 60 years watching the cabbage i have always got a ticket for away games without belonging to an elite group.
So fans that opted to sign up to the away season ticket option are in some sort of elite group? I'm an away season ticket user and joined to ensure my ticket as well as avoiding the sort of trouble highlighted on this thread. Hardly elitism is it

We can request terrace tickets where the ground permits as AST are always allocated seats in the stand.

Got there in the end! 2 tickets purchased. Hibs really do need to sort the system out though, not the first time its struggled to cope with high demand.
It's NOT Hibs system to sort out. It is owned and operated by Ticketmaster.
This'll go to general sale.
Probably, as it looks like we're getting 5 out of 7 sections of the wheatfield.
About 8000 in total?

Hibs choose to work with them and pay for the service though.
If the service they provide is not up to the task, which clearly its not, then it's up to the club to either find a resolution with Ticketmaster or take their business to a vendor that can provide the correct platform for its supporters.
This is not a new issue.

I am confused?
Does the Away Season ticket give the holder tickets for all away cup ties? The home season ticket doesn't do this so why would the away one?
Seems daft... if all our cup games were at home then there would be no benefit to away season tickets apart form league games (which is why i thought the away season ticket was introduced?).
If someone can enlighten me as to whether this was detailed when the away season ticket was started then that would be great, but off the top of my head i dont seem to remember this benefit being spoken of?

The away season ticket guarantees you a ticket to all away league games. It's a perk of being an away season ticket holder that if we get drawn away, then these people get the first tickets available.
The home season ticket guarantees you a ticket to all home games, regardless of competition.

the one thing you miss with this post is that the AST doesn't guarantee you a ticket, you are obliged to purchase a ticket... no choice really, which for those who are AST holders is why they bought it I'm sure, as this in turn guarantees you a ticket.
The HST does reserve you a ticket for the home cup games but you are not obliged to buy it, thus its not guaranteed. HST seats are released to general sale after a specific date from when they go on sale.
Having not noticed this point at time of launch I am actually quite happy i didn't opt for the AST as I couldn't guarantee i would get to all away games in the league never mind additional away cup games.

Of course the away season ticket means you are obliged to buy the ticket for every game including cups.
If it was simply a case of the club reserving you a ticket and then you deciding if you wanted to purchase it or not you would have thousands of people on it. Why would you not want the option to be guaranteed a ticket but then decide if you can make it or not?
It was made clear by the club how it would operate.

AWAY SEASON TICKET SCHEME LAUNCHED
By: Hibernian Media on 27 Jul, 2016 10:11
Hibernian are pleased to announce the details of the away season ticket scheme, which will be implemented in time for the first away league match of the season against Falkirk.
Supporters signing up for an away season ticket are committing to purchasing a ticket for every away match in the Ladbrokes Championship, Irn Bru Challenge Cup, Betfred League Cup and William Hill Scottish Cup. Money will be automatically debited shortly before the match tickets go on sale, normally around two weeks before the match.
The number of away season ticket holders will be capped at 350, which is half of our smallest league allocation of away tickets (Dumbarton). This means that tickets should be available for every match to supporters who do not wish to take part in the away season ticket scheme, with season ticket holders given a priority window where demand is expected to exceed supply of tickets.
Away season tickets will be available at the Hibernian Ticket Office, by phoning 0844 844 1875 option 2 or by e-mailing the form below to
[email protected].
Supporters looking to buy away season tickets in groups are advised to complete only one application – we are not able to facilitate individual away season ticket holders sitting together for each match. If the tickets are purchased through one application the tickets will be allocated together.
The away season ticket will be on sale as follows:
10am Wednesday 27 July: 500+ loyalty points
10am Friday 29 July: all home season ticket holders
The loyalty points scheme will be disbanded after the introduction of this scheme – we do not anticipate using it again. They have been used in this instance as a mechanism for selling the away season ticket scheme only and will not be used for the sales arrangments for the Falkirk game.
Away season tickets will only be available for purchase until 5pm on Thursday 4 August.
A FAQ relating to the away season ticket can be found below:
How does the away season ticket work?
In signing up for the away season ticket, the supporter is committing to purchasing tickets to every away match when they become available.
The supporter would register card details with Ticketmaster through the Hibernian Ticket Office. The card would then be debited automatically every time an away match goes on sale.
How can I sign up for the scheme?
You can sign up by visiting the Hibernian Ticket Office in person, over the phone on 0844 844 1875 option 2 only or e-mailing the below form to
[email protected]. If your are joining by e-mail the Ticket Office will phone you back to take payment details.
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION FORM (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1NUMvCgNtouZlp4Z0NJYVA4aU0)If I sign up can I opt out of purchasing for certain games?
No, signing up for the away season ticket commits the supporter to purchasing a ticket for every away game in the Ladbrokes Championship, Betfred League Cup, Irn Bru Challenge Cup and William Hill Scottish Cup. Please note it does not apply to the UEFA Europa League.
Is there an up-front cost to signing up?
No, there is no up-front or additional cost to signing up.
Can I purchase away season tickets as part of a supporters group?
You can – but everyone wishing to be seated together must be part of the one application form, with the cost of the tickets being deducted from one credit/debit card. Please let the Ticket Office know when you are registering.
Are there any restrictions on who can purchase an away season ticket?
At present the away season ticket is only on sale to home season ticket holders, with a priority window for those who attended the most games over the last two seasons. From discussions with other clubs operating similar schemes and from analysis on our own supporters’ attendance at away matches we believe there will be sufficient tickets for the expected demand.
How many away season tickets will be sold?
We have capped the sales at 350 tickets to ensure that tickets will still be available for non-away season ticket holders.
If I don’t buy an away season ticket will there still be an opportunity to buy tickets to away matches?
Yes. We don’t envisage receiving less than 350 tickets for any away match, so there will always be some tickets available for sale to the wider support base. For games where demand exceeds supply we will give a priority window to home season ticket holders.
What if there is a ticket promotion at a certain game e.g family price?
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to be part of this once signed up to the away season ticket – you will be required to pay the full amount of the match ticket.
Do I get to choose my seat?
No you don’t, you will be allocated a seat. This means that it may not be possible for you to have a ticket beside those who don’t own an away season ticket. If you apply as part of a group your tickets will be allocated together.
Do I collect my tickets or will they be posted?
Tickets will be for collection from Easter Road. An additional cost will be incurred to have all tickets posted out to you.
When will my account be debited?
We will aim to debit accounts one day prior to the tickets going on sale to season ticket holders. This is normally approximately 2 weeks before the match, but can change depending on when we receive tickets from the opposition side. If a payment is not taken the Club will contact the individual directly to discuss.
What happens if the away club doesn’t provide tickets to Hibernian for sale in advance of a match?
If the Club doesn’t receive tickets from the away side we are not in a position to allocate you tickets as part of the away season ticket scheme.
No money will be debited from your account in relation to that fixture and you will need to purchase a ticket at the stadium on the day of the game.
How long will the away season ticket be available to purchase?
Supporters will be able to sign up to the scheme until 5pm on Thursday 4 August

Im sure an AST holder will correct me if I'm wrong, but they are guaranteed a ticket to all away matches, the only question is whether they can stand or not. Either way, they pay for the ticket regardless, which was clear when it was announced.

Doesn't take an IT anayst to figure the problem has nothing to do with the volume and everything to do with the complexity of verifying, assigning and allocating tickets. Hibs & TM need to go back to the drawing board before we get to the SCF again in May :cb

Doesn't take an IT anayst to figure the problem has nothing to do with the volume and everything to do with the complexity of verifying, assigning and allocating tickets. Hibs & TM need to go back to the drawing board before we get to the SCF again in May :cb
Yes split between online and in person but can you imagine 3-4000 people having to queue up though nowadays? We'd only complain there was no online sales and you'd still be there now. I'd hate to have to return to the days of queuing overnight for derby tickets. Stuff that! Online sales may not be perfect but it is far easier than standing queuing in the piss rain and howling gales.

Not suggesting we ditch online sales. Just that we ditch a system that feels like it belongs in 1995.... for a club the size of Dumbarton :cb

You would not have 3000-4000 people queuing on the first day if we only sold 4000 tickets. I reckon it's probably about 4 tickets average per transaction which means between the ticket office and online they only had to deal with around 1000 transactions over the whole day.
The fact that the server can't even cope with that shows just how bad the current online setup is.

Just take them in and ask if you can move
You can request standing tickets instead of seated stand tickets, the club are usually ok with this.
To to be completely honest, I actually meant to say 'attend', not 'stand', bloody autocorrect
that said, at least the autocorrect substituted something sensible :greengrin

If you didn't have to assign the tickets what's to stop anyone including opposition fans buying them in bulk? It's one per client reference number but if they don't get that when you order online what's to stop you ordering 10?

If 4000 people all log on at 10am to try and buy Justin Beiber tickets you have the exact same problem. Ticketmaster are the biggest in the sector but you always have these problems due to the way everyone tries to get on at opening time.

Not here to solve the problem, but why does the ST verification and assignment of tickets need to be done as part of the purchase process, slowing everything down ? As long as the person buying tickets for a Network is pre-authorised and trusted, Hibs/TM should just allow that "lead STH" to logon, buy tickets for the whole Network (up to the no of STHs in the Network) and assign them later, notionally assign them or not assign them at all. A simple counter/marker on the database can then be used to control access and further purchases by folk in that Network.

But the argument was around assigning tickets to folk in the network which you can't do until logged in anyway.
Once you have added the amount of tickets to your basket you then have 30 minutes to assign them and complete the transaction.
That's how it worked for me in the past but haven't used it recently so may have changed

At busy times it can take a while to assign tickets to client refs, on Monday I got timed out after 30 minutes after trying to assign 6 ticket to the relevant client refs.

It doesn't sound bad, no, but for our first defence of the monumental Cup win, in Edinburgh, I am surprised that almost half of season ticket holders are sitting it out. Good news for those waiting for public sale, and should see us sell out.
