Awful. Not a fan of his music but I always liked him. It just goes on and on.....

Sad news. Not my kind of music but he was clearly a talented if troubled guy. RIP.

Never listened to all that much of his music, but what a voice the guy had. His version of 'Roxanne' was amazing. RIP

Sad news, tremendous voice, Faith and Listen Without Prejudice (Particularly Mothers Pride which almost always brings a wee tear to my eye) were very good albums. His duet with Whitney Houston was also very good. One of his concerts from Paris was on TV a few months ago, it was outstanding.

Tremendous pop star. For years, careless whisper was my favourite song. The way he came back from things was tremendous - outside for example. Will
Need to go back and look at his comic relief sketch with James corden

Last Christmas. Listened to it earlier today and we had a conversation about him and his songs. A tremendous talent.

I really wasn't a fan of his music at all when I was growing up, and when Listen Without Prejudice came out I wasn't intending listening to it, but it just blew me away. What a great selection of jazz influenced songs. I still listen to it occasionally now. I think it's revealing that he was a lot more respected in the States as a serious artist, where the tabloid press weren't crawling all over his personal life.

Just saw the news on TV. Is there any news on the cause of death?

Holy **** this is just mad.

Certainly one of the finest voices and talents of my generation.

Police are stating there are no suspicious circumstances as things stand.

Aye, I heard that. At least that's something, but 53 is no age.

Was it Praying For Time that he sang. Wonderful number.

Remember going to see wham at the playhouse in my teenage years. GM very talented individual who had a good heart. Played a benefit concert for the NUM during the miners strike and outspoken critic of the Iraq war.

I was brought up listening to him by a sister who was obsessed with Wham then by my mum and sister when he went Solo.

Took me a long time to realise that he wasn't annoying and was just an unbelievable talent. His duet with Elton John will always be one of my fav songs.

RIP George

I'll never forget his performance at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. Best of the night IMO.

First we had the 27 club (Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin, et al).
Now we have the 2016 c!ub - and there's still a week to go.
George Michael was a great writer and performer. As an earlier poster said, his version of Roxanne was brilliant. I bought the album on the strength of it.

What were you doing when you were 17? George Michael was busy writing Careless Whisper.

Unbelievable talent not just as a singer but also as a songwriter. Did a lot of work for charity and had the balls to take on Sony too.

Absolute legend.

Deserves legend status just for taking on Sony!

His list of secret donations he made to both charities and strangers is staggering. A truly great guy who helped many people from a waitress in debt he gave 25K to an IVF seeking lady he gave 15K
