This lad is going to be a good player, but still a big risk for a 15 year old

Mmmm i wonder... celtic unearth a 14 year old wonderkid, sevco get jealous of the publicity generated so they invent one of their own, and of course, hes called Billy.. it keeps the natives happy while their stadium collapses around them

WOW!!!!!

You can sign him for as little as "£100,000" , what a steal?????

Almost as stupid as Liverpool saying they would not be paying anyone under 18 over "£100,000" a week?????

The worlds gone absolutely ******ing MAD!!!!!

Agreed, all very risky to shell out big money on teenagers but for the very big clubs it really is peanuts.

Chelski paid Leeds £5m for a pair of 18 year olds about 07/08.

Michael Woods is now with Hartlepool and the other is now in the Scottish Championship - Tom Tiawo.

I saw him too, very comfortable on the ball, but Chelsea's record of Youth development is terrible

Where is the figure of 100,000 coming from? For a fifteen year old? I'd like to see where that is in the written regulations.......

I'm questioning why they would need to pay anything? He is a schoolboy and can hardly be said to have come through their youth system at this stage? I may be entirely wrong of course but this looks to me like a figure that's been plucked out of fresh air........

Hibs got plenty when we lost two young players to Celtic and Rangers last season...

The next John Fleck?

You beat me to it. This was the guy the Huns press (Record, Sun etc) touted as being the next Wayne Rooney and urged that he be 'fast-tracked' into the Scotland side, despite zero first team appearances. What happened to him?

Here's another one that sprang to mind:

Nothing like a bit of hyperbole, but then you wouldn't expect anything less from the narcissist managing the Huns at the time.

There's been a few wunderkids at Ibrox over the last few years. Who can forget John Fleck, Lewis McLeod, and Danny Wilson (first time round at Ibrox) ? Presumably they're all playing at places like the Nou Camp, Bernebau and San Siro nowadays

To be fair, sdg should be written SDG, to not capitalise Sir David is a sin and quite rightly could cause some confusion

Sandy Robertson was a very good player... just a shame like so many he liked the drink more than the football.

Almost as stupid as Liverpool saying they would not be paying anyone under 18 over "£100,000" a week?????

I think the recent story was that Liverpool would not be paying more than £40,000 per year to their under-18s.

Chelski paid Leeds £5m for a pair of 18 year olds about 07/08.

Michael Woods is now with Hartlepool and the other is now in the Scottish Championship - Tom Tiawo.

I think that ridiculous fee was set by a Tribunal.

I saw him too, very comfortable on the ball, but Chelsea's record of Youth development is terrible

To be fair, Chelsea's younger players get a guaranteed 9-month long trip to Holland, Germany, Russia or, in some lucky cases, Edinburgh, every season. :greengrin

On that point though, a lot of the bigger clubs in Europe who do not have "B" teams playing in established leagues can now afford to pay £100,000 on a 15-year old gamble without even really blinking. It's speculate to accumulate and it's exacerbating the existing problem of the rich clubs getting richer to the detriment of the less well-funded clubs.
