That's not what they said. The said Hibs are looking at a big January signing like they did last season with Anthony Stokes.

They said on STV news that Neil Lennon would like to make a 'Stokes like' January signing. Not that we are interested in Stokes.

Lennon's quotes from the STV site

"We definitely need to add to the squad," he said. "We've been working on a few things over the last couple of weeks - maybe add to the squad now on an emergency loan.

"We've made some enquiries for players there, but definitely in January we'll be looking to strengthen.

"We work within a parameter of financial security, I'm aware of that, so that's the bracket that we're looking in.

"But you never know, in January the club brought Anthony Stokes in and that surprised a lot of people. You just never know but I think there will be funds available."

So, there are no plans to sign Stokes then, which is hardly a surprise.

Considering he now plays for Blackburn Rovers, I'd be amazed if he was willing to sign for a club that could only pay a fraction of his current wage.

Whilst after reading Neil Lennon's quote he doesn't sound like he's suggesting a move for Stokes, his words are very encouraging about his intentions for the forthcoming window :agree:

When I heard the report I thought GREAT!!!!
Then I listened properly at what was said and it was a Stokes type player he's on about?
Could be thinking of Ally Crawford of Hamilton?
Not an out and out striker but can score goals?????

No chance we would get him, Hamilton would be after a big transfer fee, the boy is a fantastic player

Stokesy isnt doing much at Blackburn, he's only started 4 games (plus 4 apps off the bench) scored 3 times though so a decent strike rate just not getting the game time.

Has he not been injured?

Now that would be perfect!!

Not if he played like last season it wouldn't.

Loved him on fire - obviously - but the Scottish is a distant 2nd on this season's wish list

I honestly couldnt tell you but I think he's down the pecking order with Graham, Gallagher and Emnes ahead of him. Two of this three goals have come in cup competitions which may suggest he's not first choice. Always a hero here of course but I'd be surprised if he does much with Blackburn personally.

Fair enough mate, I just have this feeling I read he was injured for a bit

:agree:

Stokes was key on that great day, but was part of a team that went on a horrendous run of results, a team that for all it achieved on 21.5.16 was proved well short of being good enough to win the league, why would we want to recreate that failure?

A big striker to play along side him Stoksy will score goals for Hibs. If he is available would take him (and Hendo) in a heartbeat.

Jeez... this is not a matter of speculation, he was literally playing for Hibs earlier this year!

If he's fit and up for it, Stokes will score goals. Unfortunately throughout his career there have been long periods when he's not shown his quality consistently enough.

He was injured for a while, don't know if he still is.

I'm confident you wouldn't have that opinion after his first 5 or so games in a Hibs top.
