LED/LCD Wall Mounting - Recommendations?

Considering wall mounting my TV and concealing the cables behind the wall, but given I have plasterboard walls I am interested in exploring professional options for doing so. Anyone had this done in Edinburgh recently and able to provide recommendations and an indication as to costs?

I had some cowboy from Corstorphine attempt to do mine made a total mess of it so much so I booted him out half way through.

Ended up getting a company called system home to come and do it probably not the cheapest but he done a brilliant job.

Used the mounting service from John Lewis, think it worked out around 250 but fantastic job, really really good and professional.

What is behind the plasterboard? If it has been dot dabbed onto a brick wall you can get long screws and fix with those and raw plugs into the brick. If is stud partition wall, tap along the wall and find the wood, use a thin sharp something to poke through to double check then screw into the wood which should be strong enough. You could try plasterboard corkscrew fixings but depends on weight of the TV I suppose.

Yeah that was inclusive and all cables were tidied and hidden behind the wall. I'll try and find the guys details that did it as he was a contractor for John Lewis and left me his number somewhere.

Keen to know this too - the wall is papered at present and would rather not have to repaper it - I can't see why that would be necessary though TBH.

Some of the new build internal walls I have seen would have trouble supporting a picture never mind a TV!

What's on the other side of the wall? If it's a built in wardrobe or a hidden area ie behind a fridge freezer then the cable access and any extra timber, if required, could be done from that side to minimise the impact on your wallpaper. I've done it that way a few times.

No redecoration, the hole is hidden behind the TV where the cables drop and they come out beside the socket at the floor. I would post a pic of it if I could work out how! PS not had a chance to find this number yet.

That's exactly how I envisage it working for me, I just don't have the skills myself to make it happen!

You might not have much of a gap behind the plasterboard then before the dividing blockwork. It'll still be possible but whether or not you'll be able to get it done without damaging the wallpaper will depend on exactly what is behind the plasterboard. Hopefully small upper and lower openings will allow the cables to be fed through easily but getting a reliable fixing for the bracket could be an issue. Good luck with it.

That's my concern really and as I don't think the wallpaper I used can still be sourced I'm really keen to avoid redecoration if I can!

I can only find their facebook page, it's called accessories2you in Greenock, they cover the central belt and guy that fitted it was called Jamil. Really was excellent.

Wife's friends cousin so not sure if mates rates applied or not?!

£100, which was £20 per hour plus £20 for the TV bracket.

If anything it should give you an idea what you might expect to pay.

I find using a magnet to locate screws/nails used in attaching plasterboard to studs, much better than use a stud locator, although stud locators sometimes have other functions (plumbing/wiring).

But other than that, has anyone used a stand instead of a wall mount? have the TV in the corner and wallmount isn't an option.

My mate got a local blacksmith to make him a bracket that fitted into the corner of his room with a plate attached drilled to the measurements of the mounting holes.
