Has anyone seen footage? Confirmed it was offside?

I have seen it from hibs tv footage and it was hard to say.

Probably would of favoured the attacker in that scenario.

Also, not one Falkirk player asked for offside

I think someone posted a screenshot in a separate thread - he was off by about a yard.

My recollection was that they had a man on the line. Funny the tricks your mind can play on you when you start getting old

Was he not behind the keeper though? That would make him offside as you need two men behind the keeper to play you on.

2 men (which may include the keeper) nearer to the goal line than the ball.

Just watched it on Hibs TV and Boyle is at least a yard offside when the pass is made to him.

Offside by a distance. Did not hear much complaints.

Now I'm even more confused. Do I not understand the offside rule, do I have a **** memory, or do I just need new contact lenses? :greengrin

I think HC is correct (although it maybe could have been worded better).

You need two opposition players between you and the goal line in order to be onside. This is usually the keeper plus one "outfield" player. However, if you're behind the keeper (as in between the keeper and the goal line, you would need two "outfield" players between you and the goal line in order to be onside.

:agree: I think the confusion arises with the use of the word 'keeper'.
As F17 states, it's "opposition players" - irrespective of their assigned position in the team.

Ah yes, "behind the keeper" as in 'ahead of the keeper'. Makes sense now. :agree:
