We were unlucky today. The breaks didn't fall our way and Falkirk scabbed another wholly undeserved result. Let's forget about it and look to next week.

They achieved what they set out to do, kick lumps out us and take a point. Nevertheless though, we were once again our own worst enemy. We just cannot take our chances! Their first real attack of the game led to their goal. This is exactly the same thing that hurt us last season. Teams know that they don't have to create many chances to get a goal, they'll sit in and hope to catch us on the counter.
Dirty dirty team Falkirk, typical Houston team. Team of hammer throwers who's main objective is simply to kick teams off the park. That wee ***** Baird should have been off, Hypolite cheated all the way through the game and their goalie should have been booked for blatant time wasting everytime he had a kick. Any half competent referee would have seen that, unfortunately we had another utter clown.

Heard Boyle's goal was not offside. Hit a falkirk player last? Anyone confirm?
Did not look offside to me but the linesman's flag went up immediately, the goal was never going to stand

Falkirk could easily have had 3 players sent off with a stronger ref. Baird must have been involved in about 4 or 5 bookable incidents along with a good few other fouls. I don't think he even got booked. Hippolyte was constantly time wasting and made a couple of fouls but got away with it most of the game. How Oxley used to get booked when you watch Rodgers today. I really didn't think the referees could get any worse but that is the poorest refereeing display I have seen in years. Darren McGregor got booked for absolutely nothing and was yet again our best player.
Saying that I think our man in black, Lennon, possibly had a poorer game. It took him an age to change the set up of the team and even then he got it wrong in my opinion. Why spend 15-20 mins in the second half with Fontaine at left back and Lewis left wing. Get one of them off and put Harris on, three centre halves at home against 10 men for about 45 minutes!. Holt was good in the first half but awful in the second but stayed on. I thought Shinnie looked our most likely player today and he was hooked.
I would disagree with most who seem to think we played ok I thought we never went up the gears until we went one down. We were slow and ponderous and our final ball was atrocious. Saying all that Falkirk are about as lucky as Hearts normally are to have taken a point. All in all a typical 90 mins at ER with a clueless ref, lack luster home side and an away team pulling, hacking and diving their way to an ill deserved result as a result of a goal from a single shot on target.

Sign John Baird. He's been feeding off scraps for years.
Are you his agent? You've been pumping him on a few threads.

Alex Harris is a waste of a jersey. Players don't seem to want to pass to him.
Agreed. He offers very little.

If he was in an offside position when the ball was played to him then it was offside. Doesn't matter if it hit one of them on the way in.

Holt and mcginn both had a major go at him. Sadly he seems lost in this squad. Would get rid of him and handling in jan.

Haha, that sums up Beaton's performance as an incompetent idiot given Baird jumped the hoardings and into the fans.
Hanlon was booked for less at Tynecastle.

He let loads go - pulling players back, kicking the ball away, timewasting, the celebration. Utterly incompetent.

No need for three centre halves to be on that long against ten men.
He was anomymous when he came on but Cummings would have buried that Fontaine chance.
Lennon missed this simple early adjustment of swapping Fontaine and Cummings, then let Boyle attack down each wing. The defenders had zip to do in the second. Then taking off two defenders later, at the same time, was high risk and proved so. Swapping Gray and Harris (who was again poor) was a waste of time. Holt also looked like he needed subbed and was in danger of a second yellow.
Sorry but this is down to Lennon not reacting to the other side being down to 10 men and then watching the side struggle with the formation. Lewis and Gray were achieving very little as wing backs. Why not go back to a back 4 and push someone wide. Lewis and Gray could still have moved up when allowed. Really annoying ref, manager and time wasting. On the plus McGregor is a god and Hanlon is not far behind. McGinn looked much better today.

Got the impression Boyle came back from an offside position to collect the pass.

It would be neat if the text in this post had blood dripping from it.

I was under the impression Harris supplied the cross for Hanlons goal.

The tactics of Houston's mercenaries today was utterly sickening.
They broke up play at every single opportunity they could. They wasted time at every opportunity as well and were not adequately punished by the referee.
Heard his post match interview on BBC radio and he said it was "backs to the walls at times" when in fact it was complete and utter domination of possession from us with them scoring from their only effort on target. Then for his to come on and say it wasn't a red card just beggars sanity. It was a horrific challenge from Taiwo.
Cannot stomach the man in the slightest bit.

I feel we are starting to have to many of these days already!
Need more work on composure and finishing in training!!!
Still top of the league.
Houston and his anti-football can GTF.
We have more quality than anyone else in this league, and over the course of the season quality will tell.

Being perfectly honest here , if we were a man down after 35 mins.it's I would instruct my team would exactly the Same regarding time wasting and doing what they can to break up the game.
The only person who's to blame about this is the ref who should've nipped it in the bud straight away.

We didn't use they tactics at Raith a few weeks ago with a first half red card.

So would I and I wouldn't have bothered about it if yesterday had been a one off.
The truth is though that it wasn't and those tactics are deployed by Falkirk every time they play against us. I have no idea if they play like that against any other team but I feel sorry for anyone who pays money to go and watch them.
Watching that every week would break your heart.

I really dislike them and the way they play is horrible to watch. There isn't a more stuffy team we will play against at ER.
But I can understand why they play that way against us because it's been pretty rare that we've beat them over the last couple of years.

Personally, I found Falkik’s cynical tactics hilarious. Football is such a funny sport, especially when everyone gets all riled up and mass booing ensues.
Here’s the time-wasting charge sheet from the game last week:
• Danny Rogers calls for ballboy to throw him the ball. When the ballboy does, Rogers bends down to have a drink of water and allows the ball to sail past him.
• Lee Miller is caught offside. While running back, he kicks the ball away from Ross Laidlaw who’s trying to take a quick free-kick. He then, somehow, persuades the referee that this was an innocence act, and that he actually thought play was still going on.
• Falkirk make the longest double substitution in the history of football. The second player coming on doesn’t even remove his jumper until the first one has been completed.
There was also the persistent fouling and the launching of long balls into the corners. And do you know what? Who cares?
This is a part of football. Supporters always complain about other teams indulging in some undesirable tactics and yet never seem to notice when their own side does it. Falkirk were down to ten men away to the strongest side in the league. They did what they had to do and they did a very good job of it.

What a dick. 'Tactics' like that should never be celebrated regardless of the circumstances. Even sadder that the standard of refereeing in Scotland is so bad that it's actually allowed [emoji849]

Not related to the game but following on from that article, it's amazing the dislike Hearts fans have for Neilson considering their league form. It literally is entirely down to the fact that he was in charge for 2-2.
