East Kilbride won today, and in so doing, broke the record set by Ajax in 1970/71 - 27 consecutive wins. To honor this achievement, Ajax sent over a van full of champagne and Dutch beer!! It was presented to the team at full time, who shared it with the fans. Some stories just make you feel good about football. Well done Ajax and well done East Kilbride.

Superb!

Apparently Ajax have also offered to play EK next preseason in Amsterdam and will foot the bill for everything. Not sure how much truth in it but the guy who told me is from EK. Pretty classy if its true.

Unfortunately it is not recognised by Guinness Book of Records as any record like that is only recognised if it is achieved in the top league of each country ie SPL. But well done anyway

Congratulations East Kilbride !!

It's a great story. Both EK and Ajax come out of it so well.

Well done East Kilbride, shame it won't be officially recognised. Winning 27 games in a row is a great achievement regardless of which level it's done at.

Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale beat them 2-0 in a pre season friendly so technically not unbeaten in all matches. Still some achievement though.

It's competitive games though.

Friendlies aren't competitive.

And it isn't that they're unbeaten, it's 27 wins in a row.

I did point out it was a pre season friendly.

Great story. Guess when another team breaks this record, East Kilbride will send them crates of Buckfast.

Apparently one of the wins, against Gretna, was on penalties, so not really a win

The record is for league games - how did it end up with penalties?

Presumably it would be in the League Cup. Those games went straight to penalties if the scores were level after 90 minutes.

I could be wrong but I believe it was part of a slogan for adverts when then new town was expanding to encourage people to move there. Little before my time but I'm sure I was shown something like that in school.

That's a touch of class from Ajax .... its nice to know that unlike some of the so called giants of Europe they haven't disappeared up their own bum hole.

Anyone know how many games Hereford Utd won in a row. Had a quick look online and can only come up with 21 but I'm sure it was more than that.

27, so East Kilbride equal with them. Maybe they'll send someone up this week
