Can't help get caught up in the hype and I know that is always the worst thing to do with big games in the English Premier League.

Regardless.

As an Evertonian I have to reluctantly admit it's an impressive sight when the Kop get going with their anthem.

I know no song is exclusive to any football club but it annoys me hearing Celtc sing YNWA. It will always be Liverpools anthem and they do it best. Same as I wouldn't like to start hearing SoL from anyone else.

Leith Athletic could have a valid claim.

Frantic game so far with little quality.

Hi Heid Yin
17-10-2016, 07:17 PM
I admired the Liverpool of old (1970's and 80's) but now can't relate to them or other EPL clubs. They operate on a different planet financially and otherwise. EPL clubs ( due to insane TV money) have alienated and corrupted themselves and in the process destroyed a "working man's game" and made it into a millionaires and elites playground. The game as I knew it and what it meant has long vanished. It is hard to feel empathy with molly-cuddled multi-millionaire footballers. Even those managers that are sacked walk away with inflated and unprecedented pots of money.
The game has, like I say, become elitist and corrupt, with every man and his dog involved, both on and off the pitch (including agents) grasping and clutching at the vast sums of money flooding through it.
Give me a Hibs v Dunfermline game anytime.

Man Utd looking slightly better so far but that's a bit like saying gonorrhea is slightly better than syphilis.

Drifted from a working mans game since the Hillsborough disaster. Back when the great unwashed were blamed for it and football clubs began to try and price them out.

There was once a time when "Liverpool v Manchester United" would get the juices flowing in anticipation of a classic English fixture. Now it captures as much of my attention as a Stoke v Peterborough encounter.

Diabolical game so far.
I don't watch much English football but surely the skill levels on show usually are way better than this? It's been like a poor Sunday league match in the opening half hour.

Going by what some are saying on the Bartley thread, why was Zlatan not sent off for that blatant kick out, not even a yellow?

Liverpool looking better with Lallana on. Sturridge always far too deep for whatever reason.

Am I the only one enjoying this?

I quite like the way Liverpool play but any team would have to play well to score against Jose's anti-football machine playing like they are tonight.

No, it's not the best game I've ever seen but it's an interesting spectacle. A battle of wits between the managers, 2 teams with contrasting styles - it's not worth the hype but it's well worth a watch.

I see it as one team playing not to lose the other at least trying.

Mourinho will get a lot of grief but Utd played this way away from home under Fergie for a fair few years, it's just the way football has gone.

The one player I've been quite impressed with is Herrera, seems technically decent and has been neat and tidy on the ball which is a standout performance in this game.

I'm enjoying the 2nd half. Liverpool give the impression they want to make things happen. United more letting things happen. Anything Jose touches turns to dull. Not that Utd have done entertaining since Sir Alex.

Where would United be without De Gea? He must be worth 12-15 points a season to them. That was a ridiculously good save.

Call it a dull league all you want. Ain't nobody up here doing the things what Coutinho does. Klopp must be going for the win putting Moreno on. He certainly isn't defending the draw.

I watched the first half - a mistake.

Fortunately I had work home with me so just ignored the drone of the second half in the background. Other than the two de Gea saves, I made the right choice.

Agreed. After all the hype that was another brutal EPL game. I lasted an hour before I gave up on it. I'd hate to watch Manchester United under Mourinho every week.

Those pretending they enjoyed that dross because it was "fascinating to watch" are fooling nobody.
Liverpool had no composure at all and Man United got what they came for.

United under Ferguson were good to watch but under Mourinho they are now the Skoda Octavia of the Barclays Premier league. Reliable and sturdy but stuffy, one-dimensional, stodgy, unfashionable and downright boring.

Bore fest, anti climax of a game . A bit embarrassing for all those pundits etc that love to big up the EPL as the best league in the world. Another big game built up to be a total thriller but was a complete disappointment.

Man Utd time wasting at the end shows how far they have fallen. In times gone by, they would have not been happy with anything less than a victory.
