View Full Version : International breaks: Historically good or bad for Hibs?

The first international break of the season had an adverse affect on our results and we haven't won a game since so here's hoping the fact we actually have a game during this break will see us get a confidence-boosting win, albeit only being an Irn Bru Cup tie. The main hope, I'd say, is that we find a way to rattle in a few goals.

Personally I don't give a stuff about international football so always find the break a total pain in the ****, especially if we're on a good run of form, but personal opinions aside how do Hibs tend to react to international breaks? Do we generally hit a mini slump afterwards or have they occasionally proved to be a useful opportunity to draw breath and come back refreshed? Off the top of my head I seem to recall one occasion in the mid 90s when we got off to a flyer with an opening day 5-0 win over Dundee United and then broke the derby hoodoo a couple of weeks later before being thrown off course by an international break, but I'd need to check that.
