Does anyone have experience of claiming fiscal witness expenses? Is there a limit re your wages and also childcare?
I've had a Google and it's unclear.

It's been a few years but I used to attend court on a regular basis, the loss of earnings claim was capped and you had to provide proof from your employer. The same with childcare, has to be a registered minder and proof required.

Any idea what it is capped at? I'm honestly going to be so annoyed if I lose out financially here. It is for a Hun trying to kick in a fellow Hibees' door where I stay in the West of Scotland after the final. He's been charged with a sectarian motivated breach.
My wife is on maternity leave and the day of the case is one of her stay in touch days at work and it can't be changed. All our family is in Edinburgh/Ireland so I'm having to get my ex (we are friends) to take a day off to watch my wee one. I'm paying her the living wage as a thank you. I plan to disclose that on my expenses.

Saying you are paying your childminder the living wage won't wash mate,I've seen other people try it and the answer has always been the same, evidence of having to pay a registered childminder is required. Can't remember the exact cap for wages but it wasn't that high £50/60 a day if I recall. Never bothered me as my employer paid me but I heard plenty of arguments when collecting my travel expenses over the years.

All the witness booklets are here for sheriff, sheriff and jury, and high court. All the expenses information will be there.
