I had a silver tabby called De La (Cruz). Cute wee thing who we got at 6 weeks. She wasn't strong enough and looked like the runt of the litter. Took her to the vet who said she was fine, then she died in her sleep later that night. After a few months we got another cat who we called Luna.

Not a hibby thing but my best mate once moved into a flat in London where the previous tenant had left a goldfish in a bowl and a note to say it was called Tony Cascarino.

My son also had a budgie called Jocky Wilson. Broke it's own neck trying to escape from the cage!

I had a beautiful wee dog called "Paddy" after Pat Stanton. He was a very intelligent animal who gave loads of love and fun to all who knew him.

Living in the EH11 district i taught him to "Eat" Hearts supporters, if you shouted to him "Hearts supporter Paddy," he would go off howling and barking at the person i had pointed at. This often lead to a
comical chase of the dog chasing the man and me chasing the dog around the parkland outside our house.

On the day that Souness tried to end George McCluskey's career I bought a couple of goldfish from the pet shop on Duke Street near the bottom of Easter Road. One of the goldfish was actually black but blackfish sounds daft so we'll call it a black goldfish, that sounds dafter but I digress. I went off to the match without baptising the fish and giving them a name, although putting them in the bowl was a bit like a baptism when you think about it. When I returned from the match I named the black goldfish Beedie after Stuart Beedie who scored one of our goals that day and I named the gold goldfish George as a tribute to our Maverick crippled centre forward. George didn't last long but Beedie had stamina and an indefatiqability like no black goldfish I'd ever came across ( actually I never came across him, that would be wrong on so many levels) He, or was it a she? I never did find out, lasted two seasons in the goldfish bowl on the window sill in Kirk Street and his passing was a great loss to the whole flat but the cat was good enough to take care of the funeral arrangements as the rest of us adjourned to The Duke of Wellington to mourn Beedies demise.
