Noticed online that they are about to celebrate the Citrus Club's 25th birthday, after which they are going to make a decision as to whether to keep the club open or not - the management putting out a 'Use us or lose us' plea.
Would be a crying shame if the Citrus Club went out of business. Had many, many great nights in there in my younger days and was one of the few places you could go in Edinburgh to be guaranteed a good indie night.

Was in Citrus Club a few weeks ago for the first time and it's one of the best clubs i've been in.
Hopefully they'll keep it open.

I'd love to say I had good memories of The Citrus Club but my memories of being in there are hazy at best.
Great club and would be disappointed to see it go.

The Citrus Club, that takes me back. Too old old for clubbing now, but used to go there religiously on a Saturday night.
Red Stripe and a Curly Wurly on entry. What's not to love 😀

Used to go every week back in the day. Visited a few times since and it hasn't changed in 20 years.
Music wise it's a bit mixed now. Marketed as an out and out retro indie place might appeal as the Madchester nights elsewhere are always good. There again it's target audience rarely go out anymore!
Owned by a Jambo but never mind.

I was saying that to the wife earlier, would have been all over it but too old for clubbing it these days and it's a pain in the backside getting back to Dunfermline from Edinburgh in the early hours.
It's a real shame, was always good fun in there.

I love Citrus. Used to go all the time, a lot less frequent nowadays.
It was fairly busy when I was in a couple of weeks back though.

Been there a few times recently to watch bands... First in the place in the 70s when it was the Herriot Watt Student Union

Many a great night in the Citrus, best club in Edinburgh.
They also do a good looking discount on entry fee if you ask at the door.

I used to go all the time, more recently only a few times a year. I went at the beginning of the year and club peaked with around a dozen people in it, including my group of 5. was apparently the quietest night in the 25 years and blamed it down to clashing with Madchester. Would be shame if it shut but I doubt they could cope with too many nights like that. Does seem to have a lost a bit of its appeal as well unfortunately, was there in august and the DJ played that sophie elis bexter tune....

Who told you that mate? :greengrin
Used to go to the under-18's rave nights there in the very early nineties. Tom Wilson, brother of the Yam announcer used to play there regularly if I'm not imagining things.
Sad if it went but Old Orleans, which was right next door to it, bit the dust and I survived. That got extremely messy on 2 for 1 cocktail nights.

That probably would have been my group who requested that song, so dinnae blame the DJ.
:greengrin
For some reason it was the song of my stag do in Budapest back in April, that was a bit of a 'reunion' night so it was requested.

Well you made me and my mates decide that night we were never going back haha.
Doubt that decision will last though tbh

A mate was in there few weeks back, left after half an hour, he said there was only around 20 people in and this was Friday night. I used to be a regular in there, especially on a Saturday night. Seems to have really died a death that place as its a shame as it used to be a decent club.

The 'in' place when I was young was the Gamp Club. Resident band on a Saturday was the Athenians.
