I remember Hibs playing Elgin City in a pre-season friendly donkeys years ago. Pat Carroll had a great game then didn't get a sniff at the first team again. My then next door neighbour - an old lady called Peggy - worked at the hotel they stayed at and was tasked (for financial reward of course) of discreetly getting rid of the empty beer bottles every morning..... :agree:

Me too!

One of the things that sticks out in my mind about that season was that the home crowds were absolutely rotten, but the away attendances were incredible, usually about 3 times the normal home gate for whatever team we were playing.

For instance, we got 3.5k for that home game then played in front of over 5k at Hamilton the following week, with at least 1.5k Hibbies in attendance

Pah!

I can remember turning up at Easter Road in the 70s when I didn't realise we were playing away!

I was a wee bit late so wasn't surprised by the lack of fellow fans to start with. I even knocked on a few turnstile doors!

I was some crowd :-(

November 1974. As a youngster I bussed it from Wester Hailes to ER in torrential rain for the game v Morton. I left at halftime after a goalless first half during which i got absolutely soaked. By the time I got home Hibs had won 5-0. Them were the days. ☔️💦

April 1969. St Johnstone at Muirton Park. Went with my dad got in 5 minutes after KO. no real excitement in crowd so didn't bother asking the score. We scored the "only" goal do bought a Pink News to read about our win. Read that Saints had scored 2 in first 3 minutes!

Think it was Gordon Marshall (Senior) first game for us

January 85 IIRC, virtually all games were cancelled but Easter Road had under soil heating and Hibs hastliy arranged a friendly with celtic. Hibs won6-3 and Ally Brazil scored a hat trick.

1968 Scottish Cup away to East Stirlingshire. I was behind one of the goals and was so close to the pitch that I think I may have saved a shot from the East Stirlingshire centre forward.

I was at that match for some of the time. I had been working in London and flew back from Stansted. The plane was delayed and despite getting a taxi to Easter Road it was getting on for half time when I arrived. I heard a roar and assumed that Hibs had scored.

I then found that all the turnstiles were shut. I had arranged for my son aged around 11 to make his own way there and said I would meet him in the old family section in front of the main stand. I eventually found a gate open and gained admission but in the North Stand. I found a route down to the paddock and found my son.

The half I watched was as bad a match as I have ever seen.

I remember Cowdenbeath had what looked a great shout for a penalty turned down in the closing minutes too. That's about all I remember on what was a rather drunken day. Somehow got on the wrong train afterwards and ended up in Stirling.

Anyone remember Hugh Hamill? I recall being at a sparsely attended League Cup group game v Alloa (I think) around 1979/80 and he scored our goal in a 1-1 draw. Broke his leg in his next game and never played for Hibs again as far as I can recall.

I remember Hugh Hamill, think it was 80/81 first division season where we also had Terry Wilson who I remember scoring in 2-2 draw at Somerset Park in League Cup

I remember a home match v St Mirren around 1990 missed the train in, got soaked running down to ER, got in missing the first 5 mins to get told we were one down Torfasson I think. It must've been the only shot in the game which was dire. I also remember that the fans could've had a game in the east that day it was that quiet. The good old Miller must go days.

I was there. IIRC, we were 0-2 at half time but came back to win 3-2. Little did I realise that would be quite typical of Hibs.

(Before I get banned for noising everyone up , I have an ER ST a have been attending ER for over 30 years!)

Summer of 1967 and I was on holiday with a pal and his parents at Dirleton caravan site. We travelled into Edinburgh for a pre season friendly against Newcastle in bright sunshine. McNamee was playing for Utd and it finished goalless.
Back at the caravan I fell ill with the flu but no one believed me. They thought it was "growing pains". Typical ignorant 60s diagnosis.

I was there too. It was quite an exciting game as I recall. Just looked up the wiki for that season as I would have sworn blind it was 3-3. Shocked to see the average home attendance was only around 3500! Highest crowd at ER in the league was 8,071.

December 1980, Scottish Cup home tie against The Pars, we drew 0-0 in front of 6,500

Played them in the reply on the following Wednesday in front of 8,500, about half of which were Hibbies!

What about the not so famous trip to Bury, two days before Oldham away. 22 of us in the away end. We nearly got thrown out of our B&B for being a bit loud. We were reminded there wasn't many other places to stay if we were booted out. Happy days.
