Interesting read, in particular the following:

During the Scottish Premier League era from 1998-2013, five clubs survived administration: Livingston (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/livingston/3449367.stm), Hearts (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22953448), Dunfermline (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21936883), Motherwell (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/1948121.stm) and Dundee (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/dundee/3286019.stm) (twice (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/dundee/9044022.stm)). Two entered liquidation proceedings: Gretna (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/south_of_scotland/7430745.stm) and Rangers (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-20141946).

Gretna went into liquidation and its history, including any silverware or championships won, was consigned to the dustbin. Should a new club rise from its ashes, it might be able to go under the same name, but in no uncertain terms could it possibly absorb the sporting history/achievements of the previously liquidated club. Absolute common sense and no law surrounding liquidation (when applied correctly) can allow for a new club to commandeer the playing history but not the debts.
However, the club formerly known as Glasgow Rangers decided otherwise in an outrageous sleight of hand - hood-winking the gullible Gers supporters, whilst being supported by the west coast-biased media and some crafty and devious lawyers in its blatant corruption of the rules surrounding liquidation. Sevco arose from the ashes and eventually The Rangers FC, happy to announce itself as the same club regarding trophies and glories won but wringing its hands of the inconvenience of mind-boggling debt, running into tens of millions. This travesty of natural justice has merely served to turn a hated club into one that is despised to an even greater depth by a watching and exasperated public and football supporters the length and breadth of Scotland.
No wonder we all enjoy beating them more than all other clubs (The Jambos aside)
