The height of the whole Britpop movement was 20 years ago today. I had just turned 21 and was lucky enough to be there on the Saturday and saw some amazing bands at their peak, including Oasis who I felt were really never the same after Knebworth.

Although as Noel said how do you top two history making gigs like that, 1 in 20 people in the UK applied for tickets to their 2 nights at Knebworth.

The week before they played Loch Lomond which I was also at, but was not the same as Knebworth which made you really feel like you were part of something bigger, more like being part of a movement rather than simply just seeing a band. It was the beginning of the end though for that movement. Great times!

There's a 3 hour special available on BBC 6 music mate.

I love(d) Oasis - went to Loch Lomond but not Knebworth.

Listened to that today, was really good. Loch Lomond was great, memories are a bit hazy but can still mind chunks of it.

Would love to be able to go back to that time, it was a superb time to be a young person in Britain.

I'm 2/3 of the way through just now - loved listening to the songs from the time - Primal Scream, Ocean Colour Scene, Kula Shaker, Prodigy. Made me feel invincible again!

Why did we not go down? We didn't even consider going - just Loch Lomond and that was it.

It's funny that there are a few fellow 38 year olds on this thread!

It was great time to be young. Great music to act as a soundtrack to going out drinking, clubbing, going to festivals and huge gigs back in the mid 90s.

I went to Loch Lomond with my mates and that trip was possibly the finest few days of my life.

Happy days indeed.

It's funny looking back at it that Knebworth, after Loch Lomond (had a great day there on the Sunday), was seen as Oasis totally winning the Britpop crown, and particularly destroying Blur's challenge. I was completely on Oasis's side on that one at the time, but now I think Blur were so, so, so, soooooooo much better!

I think at the time we just saw Loch Lomond being their Scottish Knebworth shook because we were going to that we didn't need to go there?

I was down in Stranraer at the time and came back up the road for it iirc.

I was at Loch Lmmond and thought Ocean Colour Scene totally stole the show. Canny believe it's 20 years ago.

Some great gigs in Balloch Country Park over the years, Oasis and REM I went to, Runrig played it too in the early 90's. Great venue for a festival!

Just watched Supersonic, highly recommended if like me your from that era. Noel described Knebworth as the last great gathering of people before the Internet age.
