We've been poor starters in this division and while I believe we'll win the League, I get a sneaking suspicion this trend will continue and we will have a wake up call that brings us back down to Earth after our giddy summer.

So I'm going for a 2-1 win for the home side, in a bad tempered match with a Hibs sending off, Lennon possibly sent to the stands. In fact, think Souness' first game for the Huns at ER but with us in the Hun role. And obviously much gnashing of teeth on this board.

Obviously would love to be wrong.

Agree it's a very tough opening game, I really think we need to win but I also see a 2-1 defeat. But then again I'm a perrenial glass half empty man.

Obviously would love to be wrong. your the same guy that wants us to stop going on about our Scottish cup win. Now your expecting sending offs and a hibs defeat... Here's hoping our new management team and players prove you wrong then

WHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSHHHHHH

It'll be a tough game. Houston will have them well up for it and as last season proved 90+ minutes of concentration and effort are likely to be required.

2-0 to Hibs :greengrin

Houston to spontaneously combust after the game, claiming that a combination of a bad refereeing decision for their 92nd minute red card and the difference in the budgets was the only reason that Falkirk didn't win, despite the final score being 7-0 to us.

Yes. We beat Celtic. It was 1-0. But it was 114 years ago. I think it's time we stopped banging on about it.

I didn't say I was expecting sending offs and a Hibs defeat, I said I was predicting this, in a speculative manner, such is the whimsical nature of these threads. Clue: you don't criticize other predictions, you make one yourself.

I think we'll keep a clean sheet today as the defence have been impressive pre season and I hope Marciano is competent. 2-0 Cummings first half and the usual David Gray goal late on.

With so little changes in both teams I see no reason the game won't follow the pattern of last season's matches. A close game with controversey and a draw very likely or a narrow victory.

With Falkirk losing the "heart" of their midfield [Alston & Vaulks], and the fact we are playing at a much better tempo under Lennon than we ever did under Stubs means we will win comfortably, 3-0
We are due to give The Bairns a real good skelping, lets set the marker for rest of season today. As an added bonus, we get to shove it right up that baldy greetin'- faced yam fud that is Houston. Hate that man with a passion.
