He said he would stay and help get hibs promoted. He said "I'm a man of my word"
Sot well done him I look forward to watching him mature from a good to great player. Then I wish him well

Yeah it was because we had JC that we missed out on promotion eh?

Maybe we should try and punt Hanlon, McGinn, McGeouch etc too.

It's just not that simple. Anyone who thinks its a good idea to lose an almost guaranteed 25-30 goals is off their head. If its so easy how come very few others manage it?

No where did I say that?

Would take at least £3m for me.

That would be good deal and loaned back to hibs for remainder of this season.

No chance that would happen.

Depends on how big the club is that might feel that was worth a gamble..pay 3 now or 6 or more in a few years
Fletcher is good example of how values rise down south.

I thought you were referring to Peterborough doing this as they are the only club to have made an offer.

As you say ideal scenario would be a big club in England buys him but loan him back for the season.

So keeping Cummings is the only way we will be promoted?

What happened the last couple of years then?
Glad to clarify if you cant understand what I am trying to say. Imho its better to keep him, given he is likely to score goals that will help us get promoted. I never said that we wont get promoted if he goes, that is your odd idea of what I was saying. Therefore your second sentence is irrelevant.

I'm shocked that some folk would sell him.
Good grief , how long have we being wanting a 20+ goals a season striker ?
How much would it cost us to buy one ?

I'll tell you if you tell me where Marco G said that 'keeping Cummings is the only way we will be promoted'. Two can play at that game you see.

If we've failed to get promotion twice with a player who's scored nearly 50 goals in that time it's fair to assume that selling him gives you a big problem to overcome.

Not only will he help us get promotion, he'll also get us an even bigger fee if he continues to play as superbly as he did on Saturday.

Lenno has stated we are not willing to let go for any less than 5mil tbh we would struggle to replace his goals

I'm amazed at the stick Cummings gets. I'm sure some posters would prefer a forward who runs about, tackles well but hardly scores to JC. His partnership with Holt looks good and will hopefully get better. Go up as Champs and sell him for £2m.

Correct, we all remember James Collins and players of that ilk. Great pass to Keatings for first, was off on his run as he knew holt would find him.

At the age of 21 years and five days, Cummings is the youngest Hibs player to reach a half century of goals for the club since Peter Cormack in 1966.

A few have already mentioned this, why doesn't Cummings have a regular song by now? Surely if anyone deserves one its him!

JC is in the right place - learning his game in a settled environment under a great manager.

They say he's daft as a brush, but he's shown a lot more maturity than many other players who have come through our ranks.

One thing is for sure - he's going to improve. Let's enjoy him while he's here.

That maybe, but i doubt any of the others played three seasons in the lower league.

Im not cummings biggest fan, but im glad he stayed and despite his flaws, and i note its encouraging to read the posts above, i dont see why we would sell him.

Money is of nouse to us at this stage - we have a playet the manager rates, and who is likely to score lots.

Our finances are ok, and a million, or even two or three million is no use now because we would have difficulty spending it to great effect. Maybe at the start of the summer, but not now.

We spent years managing our finances at the expense of the team, and it needed to be done.

Now we should be reaping the dividends from those hard years by prioritising the team above all else.

True. But the league in that time was bigger and included the top 6 or so teams that would now be considered lower league e.g. Falkirk, Dumbarton, Morton, Ayr Utd where regular pumpings were dished out. It also included a time when the League Cup format was similar to the newly re-introduced format where...again...regular pumpings were delivered.

And Cummings has scored quite a few against so called top tier level teams.

Still criminally under-rated by a lot of Hibs fans.

"Get a move on Cummings ya wee ****" within 2 minutes of him scoring on Saturday from some genius behind me. Unreal.

Maybe I'm a little bit biased but man's a legend already.

Scoring against them to bring us back into the game that eventually we took back to Easter Road for a win. And the way he celebrates scoring against Them is just a joy to watch. BUT

The man is a Scottish Cup winner with us. I'll say that again SCOTTISH CUP WINNER WITH US. Jase is a legend.

Off the top of my head

Ohh
Jason Cummings
He's our striker
Released by Hearts
Now he is a Hibee and we love to sing his name
We're gonna get promoted 'cos he scoring every game

Not perfect but I always enjoyed the Mario Balotelli song to the same tune.

There were more goals scored per game in 1966 compared to 2016.

Cormack had scored 61 in 157 games at the same age as Jason is now. (0.39 per game)
Cummings has scored 50 in 112. (0.45 per game)

I'm concerned we lose him big time.

Our midfield doesn't score goals.

If Jason isn't scoring I'm not sure where they will come from.

I think Lennon has to be looking at signing one or two strikers, and that's to complement JC not replace him.

Not this one, the guy is everything we want at this stage of his development, there's a bit of cheek about him that the best strikers have, properly developed in the right team we will see an even better striker in a hibs jersey. Will certainly miss him when he's gone.

Oh, and we got him for nothing via the yam, Jason Cummings, hammer of the Hertz.

I have been aa bit scathing in his football ability in the past, but this season so far he's certainly improved on that.

He is a fantastic goalscorer, if he continues to improve the other parts of his game he will be a very special player, and worth quite a bit of money for Hibs and himself. :applause:

Cant believe some fans still doubt this lad.

He said from when we got relegated he is staying until we are back up, hes kept his word and even signed a new contract, helping Hibs get as much money as possible for him.

Not only that but hes scored 50 goals in just over 2 seasons and people still say he doesnt score enough? How about his team mates dont help him enough?? Our goals dried up last season when he went on a quiet patch. Plus the fact our highest scoring midfielder was Hendo with 5, with McGinn only getting 3 im sure which is a PATHETIC return for this league.

Hes done everything he can to help Hibs, about time he was appreciated. Before we do sell him and end up with another -

Heffernan
Collins
Vine
Dagnall
Caldwell
Kuqi
Haynes
Dja Djedje or
Curier

All of whom scored a grand total of about 10 goals for Hibs.
