5 matches is a joke. Completely over the top.

Would have thought it will just be European games?

If he did what was alluded to on here, i'm surprised its not more. Although can you imagine them giving Wenger or Conte a five game ban for anything?

Ridiculous. Wonder if any action will be taken against the refs for chopping off a perfectly good goal?.. na didnt think so

Eh?

Think it was alleged that he put his hand across his own throat while looking at the ref not sure if this was true and can't remember if it was on here or elsewhere I read it

If he was still Celtic manager they wouldn't have done a thing.

Hope he serves the whole ban next season.

Eh?

A couple of posters on here said he made a cut throat movement towards the linesman or 4th official, cant quite remember which?

I found it hard to believe, but something happened and 5 games is a huge ban?

Hibs are appealing the ban - short statement on the official site.

It is effectively a 6 game ban, he was banned from the away game in Bronby.

I saw him shout to the linesman, and then made a gesture about wearing glasses, after the linesman flaged JC goal for offside :agree:

Hope he serves the whole ban next season.

Here's hoping, we'd have to retain the Scottish Cup for that....

Well if he did it then it should be on camera? Interesting to see how the appeal goes.

I think they must have gave us a transfer embargo as well. [emoji22]

Tbh I thought I'd seen him make that gesture from the East at the time but thought I must have been mistaken.

What bans have other Managers received for a similar incident? Would be interesting to see that.

5 matches, on top of the previous 1 match, for remonstrating with UEFA's incompetent whistler who cost us the match is a bloody nonsense.

I don't want to be the person to say this, but since no one else has, isn't this a slight positive for us? If he is successful with us, being suspended for the first two rounds of a European campaign would make him less attractive for Celtic to pouch him from us.

Cannae get too excited about it. Hibs treat European games like pre season friendlies these days and if Lennon is still here when we're next in Europe he'll be in the stand, big deal. A problem for him, not for Hibs really.

I'd be delighted if he has to serve a five match ban with Hibs in Europe.

So this suspension, doesn't include league matches?

The gesture was pretty clear. He was shouting over why has it been chopped off while moving his hand across his neck. Not in a threatening way at all. Even there manager looked confused why he was sent off.

Wouldn't say either of the Brondby games were treated like pre season friendlies

Not by the players they weren't but you have to ask why we did not have a goalkeeper in for it.

Lennon himself admitted the squad would be far from complete and merely seen the European game as a bonus. With the limited signings and pitching in of young Otso in goals it didn't seem to me like we took it too seriously. A useful competitive match in preseason though.

Given our recent record in Europe, if he was stay here, the ban would lost as long as our (recently ended by defeating Rangers 3-2 at Hampden with late strikes from Stokes and Gray when trailing with 10 mins to go) barren Scottish Cup run.
