Still gutting that we emptied him so early in his Hibs career - it was just a minor incident.

Anyway, aw the best ya wee legend!

What a player this guy was. Unfortunately he let everyone down at the club just before the cup final. For that I can never forgive him I'm afraid.

It was just before a derby and at least a couple of weeks before the final. But the truth is that Latapy barely kicked a ball for us after February and it showed as we only won one game in the last ten in the league.

I mind him not playing in Aberdeen as he 'wasn't in the right frame of mind'. Same thing here v Dunfermline. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/1226599.stm

He'd signed a pre contract with rangers before the final did he not?

Fun story here with him and Aidan Smith that I hadn't read before. Some interesting bits too including a rift with Sauzee.

Folk holding it against him about his unprofessional attitude is just pointless in my view, that's just who he was and he more than made up for it on the pitch when he was in the mood.

There was also the classic when he was away for a WC qualifier against Canada.

Paul Fenwick made it back in plenty of time for our next match........ :greengrin

No. They signed him on a free after we sacked him. According to the link in my previous post he was actually in talks with Celtic for a bosman while talking with Hibs too.

Same situation now as what happened with RL, would we sack one of our best players ie Cummings or John McGinn?

At Easter Road we play...

If it was the umpteenth incident after umpteen warnings and he was getting to the point when you just couldn't trust him to behave himself then yes.

I loved Russell too. Cracking wee player and a great lad. The last 6 months though were going badly off-course and a pattern was starting to emerge. It was the right call at the time.

I was surprised Russell played for as long as he did and that Falkirk got as much out of him as they did.

Off course not. They are valuable assets.

If their actions were upsetting the dressing-room, and had an effect on results, then it would have to be considered.

Would score for fun in this league...

I'm sure RL was valuable at that time, too.
