Anybody else got one due for unveiling on the 7th of August? I won't be able to make it down for the launch day but I can't wait to see mine in all it's glory come the first home game of the season. The first time I saw them I just knew I would have one some day and that day came when we went and won the Scottish Cup. :greengrin

Slightly off topic (apologies ), and I think it's been touched on before, but how about trying to raise funds for a mural on the gable wall of the ticket office.
It would be a brilliant tribute to the Famous Five, the Tornadoes, the Hampden Heroes and various others.
If you check out the mural next to Leith Town Hall it's a good example of what can be done. Is the artist who did that still around ? Worth checking out, if not maybe the Art College might be interested as a student project.
Permission from the club would be needed, although I don't see how they could object and the council of course.
thoughts !!

Big mistake in my view, makes us look like pro IRA terrorists. We should put up one of Prince Phillip in order to redress the balance.

James Connolly had no connection with the IRA whatsoever!! He set up the Citizen Army to fight for socialism, beginning in Ireland, and was mainly linked to the International Workers of the World (IWW or "Wobblies"). Lazy comment on your part, I have to say!!

DBS was clearly taking the P.

Maybe he was but not clearly and if he wasn't taking the P he was wrong with his statement.

If he had put a  at the end that would have been "clearly taking the P."

Surely anyone who reads anything here would know the style of DBS' posts.

I took it as satirical.

Whoever put the connolly plaque up, well done. In my humble opiniom there should be something more befitting such a great man.

It wasn't offensive at all, it was a funny remark aimed at those who would try to portray Connolly as an IRA terrorist.

I'm taking this to mean that my suggestion for a more internationalist Hibs crest of Prince Phillip holding up a Chinese takeaway won't meet with your approval?

That conjures up a mental image of the senile old Greek pointing a hunting rifle at the restauranteur and demanding the takings.

He'd have been first on to the Hampden pitch , bayonet fixed, leading the charge towards the ghastly Hun. There's nothing like a family feud to get the blood boiling.

I couldn't give a toss about your opinions in general. I did take umbrage at a feeble attempt at humour concerning James Connolly!!

I've just had a response to my email asking the club if they'd mind awfully getting a chippie to take a line through the bit on my Dad's stone that says "Still waiting ".

Not surprisingly, they've told me to GTF. I shall have to resort to the black masking tape option, I think.

To be fair, that comment was not DBS class. It has to be a little bit more subtle than just stating something designed to get a responce in order to be clever.

As for the stones, good initiative.

I wasn't seriously anticipating even minor masturbation on your part over any of my opinions, Bill. I am genuinely sorry that you took umbrage over my remark about Connolly, a great man whom I genuinely hold in the highest esteem.
