I read somewhere earlier today a suggestion that David Gray is the great grandson of Archie Gray who won Scottish Cup with us 1902.

I can't remember where the article or post was - can anyone tell me if this true? Also where I may have read it?

It would be an amazing story if true.

Not sure and I think we might have heard about that one before now, but I did hear from an exemplary source that he may have wanted his new born son to be named Archie in recognition of the 1902 maestro.

Don't know if Mrs Gray concurred.........

My credits expired so couldn't dig further but if someone has time and the inclination they could search consensus and birth records at Scotland's people online. Looks like there were 3 Archibald Grays born in Scotland that year so shouldn't be too difficult to track.

He named his newborn son Archie (after 4 days of deliberation) after convincing Hayley that his boy had to be named after the other Gray, (who happened to by a right back) to win the cup.

There you are then. And they had the wee fellah with them at ER on Sunday. Would've been a nice story about his great -granddad and all, but it's still a pretty good story on it's own.

In years to come there will be young children pointing at David Gray (when he's in his 40's, 50's etc) and saying "who's that daddy".

How great to be able to say "that my son is David Gray, the player who scored the last minute goal in 2016 to win us the Scottish Cup after 114 years of hurt. My son he's a legend".

I wonder what the next chapter in his footballing career will be :not worth
