View Full Version : Trumps stupid wife.

After the stupidity of Brexit, the next fear is that Boris could be exchanging views with Trump. His stupid, though admittedly staggeringly beautiful wife, has made a speech which was almost verbatim with a speech made by Obama's wife. They are admitting that it was a gross misjudgement and could damage the Trump campaign. Good. Surely the Yanks won't collectively be as stupid as as we were by imitating turkeys voting for Christmas.

This is a long read but it's a belter.

Trump is a sociopath, and very far from the self-made man he claims to be.

Apparently if Trump did nothing with his Wealth that he inherited from his Dad but put it in a high street bank, he'd be richer than he is now.

I suppose all this shows that Trump is correct when he says that immigrants are coming to the US and stealing from hard working Americans.

I voted remain. But how do we know brexit is stupidity, nobody knows what it means yet?

There seems to be an increasing phenomena of the defeated claiming the moral high ground, i suppose because its impossible to prove them wrong.

Brexit may be a disaster, but it may turn out well for us.

Thats a belter if its true!

I watched a documentary on him and they interviewed one of the compilers of the forbes rich list. Apparently he is one of the few to come down personally and try to inflatebtje figure, way beyond what he could prove

So many things with Trump.

Here is a man who has based almost all his presidential bid on astonishingly light "policy" which at its heart is a mix of bigotry, racism and misogynism.

A select few policies/opinions/actions...

The wall - which Mexico will pay for
The Mexicans who come are "not the good ones"
Banning all Muslims - including American citizens who leave the country - from entering
Punishing women who have abortions if Wade v Roe is overturned
Mocking the physical disability of an unsympathetic reporter
Saying he will pay the legal bills of people who assault protestors
Appointing a running mate who tried to introduce laws in Indiana where women would have to pay for and arrange funerals for any aborted foetuses
Re-tweeting White supremacist tweets
Suggesting if Ivanka wasn't his daughter he'd consider "it".
Hasn't released tax returns when every other candidate did due to "being audited"
The list could go on along way...

I've watched a few of his rallies. It's like the Family Guy episode where Louis runs for mayor and just has to say "9/11" to get cheers and votes.

The man is a narcissist, a bully and almost certainly a sociopath. Extraordinarily dangerous

Judging by this thread – and previous Hibs.net form – it's worth putting some cash on Trump winning.

I think that's hysterical overreaction. Trump likes turning run-down properties into manicured (and gated) resorts. He will try to do same with a Trump-branded USA.

The quote -

"Business Week estimated Trump’s net worth at $100 million in 1978. If Trump had merely put that money in an index fund based on the Standard & Poor's 500 index — the kind many Americans use to save for retirement — he would be worth $6 billion today."

There was something of a joke about the post that maybe necessitated a smiley, so "hysterical over-reaction" could maybe be equally applied to yours, but I don't think the sentiment is misplaced. At the very least a Trump administration with a Hawkish Republican majority buying into "a fear of the other" cannot make the world safer.
Also, Trump has gone bust 4 times. He will likely do the same with Trump brand USA...

So which is it, joke or fact? Bit of laugh or hysterical overreaction?

Trump has never gone bust, that's just another lazy misrepresentation of facts - none of which I am going to clarify for you. The information is out there if you are interested.

Interesting focus group with undecideds on Trump Jr's speech at RNC:

The original response was intended to be a bit light-hearted, but with an undercurrent of potential accuracy. hope that clears it up.

I am interested in info relating to Trump as it happens. If you accept politifact as being generally neutral and reliable when it comes to verifying political claims, it does suggest that essentially the claim 4 bankruptcies is accurate http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/sep/21/carly-fiorina/trumps-four-bankruptcies/

Trump is tapping into a largely disenfranchised grassroots who want change without the need to think too much about it, which is why his speeches are almost entirely substance-free soundbites. The irony of them supporting a party who, for the most part, don't support workers rights, women rights, or the validity of large swathes of the constitution is stunning

It's not, though.

There's a world of difference between "Trump" being bankrupt, and any of his companies (and he will have control over hundreds, at least) being so. Those 4 bankruptcies all involve his companies, not him. Indeed, as he has alluded to, the way bankruptcy laws are in the US and UK, such a move is a legitimate and (at times) sensible business tool.

Yes fair point and I was not precise enough above or I response to Fergus. It is his businesses that have gone bust.
One could however argue over the morality of using multi-million Chapter 11 declarations as a "legitimate business tool". The sheen that Trump promotes, very ably, is that he is a genius businessman with a Midas touch. There is enough dubiety over both the results and the methods used (for example Trump University) to cast doubt over his credentials.

That's all very well as a little headline/quote but it is best ignored. I'm not a fan but I'd imagine that his business interests/investments have created jobs and economic value.

Watched this on TV, where they played the two speeches on after the other.

Hilarious!

What was even funnier was they were trying to portray this woman as a poor refugee who went to the US with nothing.

Aye, right. She was an already successful model that went to the US and married a billionaire. Heartwarming tale indeed.

Well I'd marry him for the money. I would bar him from the marital bed though.

I'd better get a blond wig and lose a few pounds.

Trump's "stupid wife" gets into 2 pages but nary a peep about the DNC e-mails, Clinton Cash, or the beheading of a priest in his own church. Are we so inured to elitist corruption and jihadist barbarity or do we just wish they didn't exist?

Are you taking some type of Trumpist moral high ground as posters haven't commented specifically and directly on these points? It could equally be raised that why no comment on the despicable behaviour of Fox's Roger Ailes? Why no outcry at Trump calling Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" and of possessing "a smart mouth". Trumps wife's faux pas with her speech was on the face of it just a stupid gaffe, but it is more than that as it is also indicative of the shallowness of the whole Trump campaign. The man has no policies, other than fear-mongering and pandering to lowest common denominators, and parading a photogenic wife to get votes to me is a form of corruption.

As for wishing jihad and corruption didn't exist - of course I wish that. Not mentioning it on this thread doesn't mean that it is ignored. That's a weird position isn't it?
