Why does this fool keep getting media time?

I get the feeling that once everything is said and done and the UK doesn't get anywhere near the deal they want. He'll be the one leading the remain campaign in Scotland. That's about the only positive thing about his existence.

Do you mean Remain in the context of IndyRef2? No chance.

I've had a lot of dealings with him and he's an uncharismatic cretin and would never be elected by anyone with a brain who actually met him.

His complete lack of professionalism means he's an accident waiting to happen in social situations never mind in the media.

The only thing he has going for him is that his own party doesn't even like him.

If it was Indy2, he would vote Remain, wouldn't he?

I reckon we should just scrap Indy2 and have a referendum on whether he should remain or leave. That would satisfy me enough for a generation.

Undoubtedly. I meant, in answer to the OP's statement, there would be no chance of him "leading" the campaign.

In response to that. Would there be anybody else left? :dunno:

In an independent Scotland in the EU UKIP are done.

Coburn will disappear into obscurity and we'll ban Farage from the country for extremist views.

One can dream..

For a rag that calls itself the "independent". It doesn't half often have a lot to say against Scottish Independence.

Are we absolutely sure he isn't an elaborate parody wheeze and at point of brexit some comedian is going to burst out a fat suit?

I'm not really sure what you mean? Left where?

There are quite a lot of elected politicians in Scotland who oppose independence and I reckon almost every one of them would be a better campaign leader than Coburn. In any event, the campaign leader doesn't even have to be an elected politician.

To be honest, the vast majority of elected politicians in this country who claim they still want Scotland to remain part of the UK are sounding less and less convincing as time goes on. I don't believe that they really believe it themselves anymore, they're just following the UK party line. But I can see them defying their own UK HQs if Scotland get's dragged out of the single market. Which is a real possibility if the Conservatives decide to reject the free movement of Labour in order to keep UKIP at bay.

The Scottish Conservatives will be the only major party left in Scotland attempting to convince us to stay regardless of the economic damage. But they will be nothing more than a faint echo in the background of the SNP, Labour, LibDems & Greens urging us to leave.
