His strike rate in the last couple of years hasn't been great to be fair but if nothing else he'll bring great experience of playing at a very high level to the squad.

Hopefully with the level we're currently at he's still got enough in the tank to smash a few in!

His record over last couple of seasons is a worry...
Needs a good pre-season and a few early goals would be a big help.
Could be a good foil for Cummings or Keatings but these guys need our midfield & full-backs getting in behind teams regularly to set up the chances. Too often our forwards were isolated last season, needing to conjure things up themselves.
In Lenny we trust.

Hi guys,

Norwich fan here, one who follows Holty's career religiously, he's a true legend at Norwich for obvious reasons. Hope you all develop a soft spot for the guy.

Got some good news and some bad news though.....

The bad news is that anybody who is looking at videos of him as a 29 year old Premier League striker and predicting that he'll bang in 20 goals this season is living in cloud cuckoo land, his legs have gone and that is simply not the player anymore. I've seen him at Rochdale and Huddersfield, and he's pretty much completely immobile, hasn't got the pace to beat the last defender to get on the end of a chance, unless every centre back in Scotland is as slow as Michael Nelson (in which case he might have an outside chance) and I doubt he's played a full 90 for several years, more like 55 minutes one Saturday, 25 minutes the next, I'd lay £50 on him not reaching double figures personally.

The good news is that he's still pretty handy, game just evolves more around winning headers, holding the ball up and bringing others into play - a bit of an Emile Heskey (surprised Lennon didn't sign the actual Emile Heskey) rather than being a primary goal threat. And the man is pure-alpha so a natural leader and will be a great presence in the dressing room and at the training ground if you've got any promising young kids coming through. Also loves winding up the opposition players and fans, drawing fouls etc, and I suspect you Scots will appreciate a bit of that.

Another thing to add is that he hasn't just picked Hibs because they've thrown the most money his way, a few years ago I think it was obvious he wanted a Celtic move when Lennon was manager, so I suspect he's really keen on linking up with Lennon and Hibs, think I remember him saying he was a bit of a Celtic fan so understandable why he'd be attracted to a stint at Hibs!

Thanks for registering & passing on info Norwich9. Hear everything you say & it's right our expectations aren't too high. We needed a target man badly last year so hope he can play that role. We have some smaller nippier strikers (if they stay) so hopefully he can play 50/60 mins in 30 odd games.

Think he also did his first coaching badge this summer, so possibly get stuck into some mentoring or coaching kids while at Hibs?

Hope he does well for you lot, even if he doesn't always set the world alight on the pitch you've definitely signed yourself a leader in the dressing room, could be invaluable in a promotion challenge especially if you've got a fair bit of inexperience in the squad (no idea if you have or not).

Really difficult for an English person to gauge the standard of football in the Scottish Championship, but he definitely had an impact for Rochdale at the end of last season in League 1, their performances and results improved when he arrived.
