3 year deal. Think he'll do quite well down there.

Has my blessing after his two goals on that fateful day.....

Many games he was exasperating, frustrating and some, even shocking! However he chipped in with his fair weight of goals for hibs and he will always be remembered for what he did to win the cup. Wasn't just the two goals. He was unlucky not to get a hat trick, terrorised and worried the Hun defence all game and won the corner that led to the winner. For that, he will always be a hibs legend and I will always have a big man crush on him for that. Thanks mr stokes!

We were never going to keep him (and I'm not massively sad to see him leave given he was quite frustrating over his spell with us) but he contributed two of the most important Hibs goals in over a century and for that he will forever have my thanks. All the best Stokes, hope Blackburn works out well for you:aok:

The guy burst a gut for us week in, week out, whilst he was here and some weeks it just wouldn't happen for him. The cup final was a just reward and he has my eternal gratitude for his performance that day- he was just amazing and definitely a legend when it's put in context.

Not just the final. Up at ICT also after we'd unluckily and cruelly lost the league cup final.

Not enough credit. IMO Stokes won us the cup, plain and simple. He ran the Hun back line ragged, terrorised Taverna or whatever his name is, and gave the whole Hibs team belief that they could do it. Gray's finish was sensational, but Stokes was the man to set scene for THE greatest Cup win ever. Forget everything he ever did or didn't do for us, as nothing else matters except the one that really mattered. Legend.

Stubbs already seeing what a draw Rotherham is...major target apparently....Good Luck Alan

Stokes destroyed Tavernier in one of the finest striking displays from a Hibs player in those circumstances...Thanks for the final Anthony

:agree: He was fantastic in some of the games, without scoring and some forget that. I never found him frustrating, more that, some around him were not quite aware enough of his next move. he was so far above them at times we lost out on certain goals!. I also said to mates, he's building up to the big final and will rip The Rangers apart which he duly did. god bless you Anthony for that special day.

Hibs legend, will always be welcome back for that final. I found some of the Critism prior to it bizzare to say the leasti, he worked his socks off every game, coming deep to try to start attacks. Best of luck Stokesy

He has chosen a good club in my opinion, should do well. Stubbs is now probably realising that while Rotherham have a bigger budget than Hibs others in the English championship will far out spend him. Everything is relative.

For most of his loan spell with us he was smouldering rather than fully ablaze... But hey, he caught alight in the final.

Good luck Stokesy. I'm sure you'll cherish that winner's medal.

Wish I could dig out posts but I did say he would save it for the biggest of games 😀 It's his mentality to be honest - raise game v them, not so much v Dumbarton away.

I think he's a wonderfully talented player who chooses when he wants to play - which is frustrating. His performance in the cup final was superb however and at times I agree with Craig Paterson that he was unplayable. Caveat being he also proved and showed James Tavernier is actually Lilian Gish and falls into the Scottish Sports Media Hype folder labelled 'Darren Mackie/Eoin Jess/ Ian Durrant - players us ill informed, shallow as ****, and couldn't do three keep uppies 'opinionists' labelled absolute world beaters but were actually they were public park footballing huddies!

And just to confirm - The Rangers signed Clint Hill - Clint Hill !!!

Wait for 'tender meatballs' to hail him as the next Franco Baresi 😀

I hope we can invite him back the next time we play Sevco at Easter Road if Blackburn (or whoever he's playing for then) aren't playing that day.

It would be good to give that song another airing. :greengrin

A good move for Tony. A decent club, playing at a decent level and he'll be on good wage.

Signed for us twice, scored plenty goals, worked his socks off and won us the Cup. A Hibs hero:not worth

The cup final showed his ability and class. 3 minutes in he took on the back line, they couldn't deal/didn't want to deal with it/not good enough to deal with it and he slipped one in.

After that? The game was ours.

Stokes will forever be a legend.

That day and all fourteen players performance in fact is seared into the history of Hibernian Football Club. I don't think we've yet understood the magnitude of what a moment in Hibby history we've seen. Following Hibs in my lifetime is unlikely to get better than the 21st May.
