Elmander and Pukki up front for Brondby, no looking the best.

Own up!! who has been on Brondby's page on Wikipedia??

In spite of this, Brondby are probably most famous for playing against the mighty Hibernian in 2016. Hibernian, who were fresh from a glorious Scottish Cup victory in May had to make do without Anthony Stokes who had moved to Blackburn Rovers but remained "on fire".

You would imagine Brondby will get through the first round so it'll be a great but expensive trip. We spent a couple of nights in Copenhagen after playing Malmo and I remember paying £27 for a round of 3 pints. There was this wee cheap bar called Billy Booze though. By a distance the cheapest place we came across in the city.

First concern for me is the dates to make sure I can get the time off work. EasyJet fly direct to both Copenhagen and Rekyjavik from Manchester so hopefully ok on those counts, albeit pricey if I'm going to wait until our definite opponents.

The draw for the third qualifying round is made between the two legs of our game, get a good result at Easter Road in the first leg and that could be exciting!

Edit: Also, Brondby's coefficient is rubbish so we'll be unseeded in the third round as well when some big hitters start coming in.

yes hearts were drew away and we were drawn at home first.

logic would be to keep as is. Hearts away on 14th us away 21st.

Gambling with flights to Copenhagen, feeling it might bite me on the behind, but worth it when only £98. Wouldnt gamble with the £300 to Rejkavik. will do it if necessary.

Hibernian have been drawn against the winners of Valur Reykjavic and Brondby IF in the Europa League Second Qualifying Round.

The first leg will be played on Thursday 14 July, with the second leg on Thursday 21 July.

We will confirm further details when we can, including confirmation on whether the first leg is at home or away.

No decision on if we are home or away first

Big crowd at ER for the first leg.

I didn't realise this - and it makes a big difference.

I always groan when we get a Scandinavian side because they're fit and mid-season whilst we're just back off the beach.

We should be in decent shape by the time the game comes round.

If we're at home first, get a decent result at ER then who knows…….

Pretty sure another Icelandic team was in the draw, though. And, if I read the earlier post correctly, it doesn't even have to be in the same city. Think there's a radius of x miles that has to be taken into account.

I have booked flights and Hotel now

Flights £176 leaving 3.00pm from Edinburgh, coming back leaving Copenhagen @ 10.00pm (Flights Wednesday to Friday) (Norwegian and Ryanair)

Hotel wise Richmond Hotel, decent location 10mins from central station and pretty close to bars etc., and @ £95 for two nights seems good especially for Scandinavia

Now lets just hope that Brondby do the business against Valur !!!

Just in terms of bars is the Dubliner worth popping into??

I stayed at the generator hostel in Copenhagen. It was really decent for a well priced private room and had a decent bar within.

There's a Scottish bar down by the water and very central too but the Dubliner did seem the best for the football.

I stayed somewhere else too that was like a private hostel/b&b a little further outside the centre. Can't mind what it was called though, found it easy enough with a search of accommodation.

With flight prices to Copenhagen already mid 200s no real cost advantage now chancing it so it's circa £250 to either Iceland or Denmark.

I realise that:aok:, but there must be a chance of a cheap flight from Edinburgh to London which can connect with the billund flight and still be cheaper than the prices I have seen quoted for Edinburgh - copenhagen.
I would strongly recommend against this. First of all the train ticket will be 30-40 quid, and secondly Billund Airport is placed in the middle of nowhere without proper connection to the train. You'd have to take a taxi or a bus to nearby town, Vejle, and connect with train there. Taxi is easily another 20-30 quid. Then the train ride of about 3 hours to Copenhagen central station.

To the one wondering about tickets: Brøndby's away section is about 800 seats. I don't imagine you'd need more tickets than that, but if you do, I'm sure the club would just give you the whole end stand for a total of 5-6000.

I hope we see each other in July!

Hello and welcome

How much is an average ticket to see Brondby?
Just gonna answer you all in this response:

The average ticket is about 10-12 quid. I imagine at this early stage in the tournament, it would be the same for you, if we go through (no jinx here).

Regarding our chances against Valour:
It hard to say too much about the strength of Brøndby right now. We let a lot of players go after the end of last season (we play July - May in Denmark in contrast to our Scandinavian neighbours). Among the players let go was Agger and Elmander who you might know, but also 5-6 other players. We also hired a new coach, former Stuttgart and RB Leipzig coach, Alexander Zorniger (German). He is trying to implement the high pressing kind of play known from Leverkusen and the Red Bull clubs, but we have yet to see, if he will go all in with this system at once or do it more slowly. In short, even I don't really know the current strength of Brøndby. I'm quite hopeful of our new German with his very German mentality towards training, though.
That being said, Valour is a way smaller club than Brøndby and at least on paper our squad is way better. I would put us at about 80% chance of going through. The only reason it's not higher is due to the aforementioned changes.

Regarding tickets:
In the league our away section is without seats and then can be expanded to another seated one, but Uefa won't allow a standing section. I'm not quite sure how they will do it this year, as we just removed the seats recently after having them thrown around every time our local rivals visit us. I'd say it should be possible to just give you the whole end stand, as there isn't usually too many Brøndby fans at home for these early rounds so there should be plenty of space.

I would stay away from the pedestrianized street, which is where most of the irish pubs are placed, if you want cheap beers. In general though, if the weather is nice, most people buy their drinks in the shops (you can get 33 cl pilsners for as little as 30 pence, and 60 for a brand like Carlsberg or Tuborg) and head for a park or likewise and have their drinks there. The police don't mind, as long as you behave. At a bar you'd easily pay 4-5 quid for a pint in the inner city.

Beware that Brøndby is a suburb placed 7 miles away from the inner city, so you'd have to take the local train to get there and then a small walk of a mile or so. There aren't many pubs around in Brøndby though, so better come and leave right before and after the game (still no jinx here).

How many fans do you think Brondby will bring to Edinburgh for the first leg?

Cheers for the info.

Can we all stay at your house rather than waste good drinking money on a hotel? If that's okay I'll buy you a few of those 30 pence bad boys as a sign of my gratitude. B)

We fly at quarter to 7 on the Wednesday, back Friday teatime.

Aye, 3 of us booked on those same flights. Jumped on them right away, £75 each.

How many fans do you think Brondby will bring to Edinburgh for the first leg?
With the relatively easy access and a (I presume) friendly destination I'd assume 700 or so. Could be a lot more though if people get excited about the first few matches with the new manager. About 4000 Brøndby fans went to Berlin a few years ago. In general the Brøndby fans can be quite colourful compared to UK fan culture with flares and tifos, but there probably won't be too much of that so early in the tournament. A lot of flares though.

Don't know what price the Icelanders will be to qualify for the next round but put enough on them to at least cover the cost of the flights (hotels you can usually cancel FOC) then you're sorted. :aok:

Unibet have prices for the first leg but not yet for qualifying.

Valur 15/2, draw 7/2, Brondby 3/10

It's an awesome draw for Hibs. Brondby are a great team with Champion's League and European Cup heritage. It is in one of my favourite Cities.

I would love to go but my pesky daughter has decided to get married the day before the match.

The Admiral on the Copenhagen waterfront is one of my favourite hotels of all time. Drat!

This is the first time I would have had the chance to follow Hibs to an away tie in Europe without the problem of trying to get off work. Just my luck that we have the option of one out of two of the most expensive cities in the universe ..... Anywhere in eastern Europe would have been fine, but I just cant justify the expense of Reykjavik or Copenhagen ..... also the two folk I can think of who would have went with me wouldn't be keen on the expense side either.

I therefor demand that Hibs dispose of which ever side they end up playing in short order so that I get a shot at a cheaper destination like Poland or Hungary ..... over to you Hibees :greengrin

It's not that expensive. 4* Hotels for around £60 a night based two sharing. Very cheap flights from London or Manchester. So a two night trip flying from down south for around £200 decent value to me. It's also £4/5 a pint, again we pay that up town in Edinburgh and virtually everywhere in London

You're a brave man. My idea of hell, being stuck in a bus for 9 hours these days.

In my student days, not a problem. Now - within reason - I adopt the "pay for what you get" principle and am happy to take the train/plane.

Copenhagen especially would be a great trip, but Reykjavik is also class.

Planning on the 11am bus as opposed to the overnight. Few pints, casino pit stop then 0545 Heathrow Express.

All this is dependent on my boss giving me the days off of course.

The seedings don't have any effect on who plays at home first. The team drawn first plays the first leg at home, but some ties may be reversed if there are two local teams due to play at home on the same day.
