It's a modern, eco-friendly mode of transport. They commemorated the Hearts cup win in 1956 by painting the buses maroon.

Time to shed the old anti Hibs bias, Edinburgh establishment, and move into the modern era. Leave the Jambos with the wheezy old buses and GREEN UP THOSE TRAMS IN 2016!

 Maroon & green buzzez?
By painting their buses orange & green, Glasgow had the right idea. Sit on the deck that shows which team you support.
Bigotly brilliant!

Were they not originally orange green and white though? Nothing neutral or even-handed about that - clear Irish kafflick conspiracy against TP.

ECT buses were never green. And the shade isn't maroon, it's madder, which is very appropriate for a colour close to that mob's colour.

what about the pillar boxes? If Dunblane can get gold pillar boxes just because someone who once lived there won a medal at what is basically a girls' game, why oh why are the pillar boxes in Leith still red?

Some LRT buses *are* green.

104 and 113 from East Lothian, under the moniker of Lothian Country Buses.

I know, I drove the 113 for some overtime last year and got pelts from my jambo colleagues due to the number coinciding with you know what

The greenways bus routes were great especially the big green lane through Gorgie. A certain Hibs supporting 'transport supremo' suggested the colour 😀

Glasgow buses were actually green, white and gold but later changed to orange.

Now they're pink in honour of the "famous" team's ground.
