Wonder if they will ask him much about Hibs. They're bound to mention it at some point, will be worth a watch to hear what he says.

Pretty patronising suggestion by Lineker! Almost suggesting small countries like N Ire only got in because of the tournament being expanded!!

Neil soon put him straight.

These english tossers are as patronising as ever. You think the would learn after these endless humiliations, but apparently not. Last night was a great start but looking forward to seeing how their team ultimately chokes this time.

I think based on the old tournament system Wales would have automatically qualified anyway as best runner up as well as NI, so stupid suggestion by Lineker.

They wonder why the Celtic nations don't like England. Linekar personifies the smug and patronising attitude towards teams like Northern Ireland and Wales

Linekar should himself up to be the idiot that he is with that comment.... N.Ireland won their group and deservedly qualified as GROUP WINNERS..

Another smug English welt..

They won their group! Even if it was only 16 teams NI would still be there. The English coverage is a farce.

Do Lennon and Lineker not get on quite well? Ex Leicester connection and all that, maybe was meant as a genuine question rather than a dig, it did present Neil with the opportunity to say just how impressive the NI qualifying campaign was for those who may be hasn't been following

They interviewed Michael O'Neill on ITV and the first question they asked him was about how he played with Gazza... Ridiculous.

Can't remember word for word but basically started with linekar saying it's great that the tournament has been expanded to give nations like Northern Ireland a chance and Lennon replied we won the group, we would have been in the finals any way

It's nothing to do with the tournament being expended they just got extremely lucky with the draw and made the most of it.

Well aye I know not mathematically but could go a way towards it if we beat them. Puts massive pressure on their last game

4 points gives a good chance of a third place qualification place. True about the pressure it would add though.

No but if Wales win, they can then decide to lose to Russia and that should do it!

Wait do 3 teams from each group go through? Is it not usually only the top 2?

There's six groups so top two going through is only 12 teams.

His NI career has been great late goals wise but club career has been terrible. Not worried about us signing him though, if anything he'll return to Govan.

I'm not sure they'd welcome back any of the ones who refused to TUPE to the new club when the old one was liquidated.

I quite like Lineker, are these kind of questions not just set up questions so the pundit can put them right? No doubt many in England will be of that belief so is Lineker not just asking Lennon so he can enlighten anyone who doesn't yet get it?

Watching the France Albania game on ITV but I can't stand Hoddle talking nonsense so I have the five live commentary on. Lennon is doing the co-commentary and I have to say I'm quite impressed - good insight and a knowledge of the tactics being used by both teams.
