Could help get the place bouncing and a way to say thanks for the cup.
Or is it a stupid idea:confused:

It's Lennon's first competitive home game, he should be the main man for that one.
The place will be bouncing anyway. :flag:

Could always have him out on the pitch beforehand, get a massive round of applause and show him what he could have had if he hadn't preferred to go to some shan wee club.

I'd save that for the half time draw in inevitable home game versus Hearts or The Der Hun in one of the cups. Be played on a Sunday for TV....

In my view, he will always be welcome back...but let's not engineer him to wave to the fans - he had the chance to continue on, and for whatever reasons he has chosen Rotherham. I'll remember him fondly, but would rather focus on the team and the new management set up.

this. as much as I appreciate what he did for the club, he left us, move on. would be like inviting your ex round for dinner to meet your new girlfriend on the first date because your ex was a good ride.

Shouldn't take bringing a manager that abandoned ship, contradicting what he had been saying the week before....to get us up for a European match.

No thanks. Focus is now on Lennon. Stubbs doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would want to do that anyway. He was always understated in his celebrations while with us so can't imagine he would be interested in taking centre stage now, particularly at the beginning of the new man's tenure.

No doubt though Stubbs will attend future Hibs events in celebration of the cup win. Just not right now.

I'd personally love to see Stubbs back at Easter Road for a game whether that's with Rotherham or for a visit.

Granted he didn't get us promoted over 2 seasons but what he took over and what he has left could not be more contrasting. By winning us the cup, that for me gave him a free pass to do as he liked. Let's not forget that for a good couple months before the cup final there was a massive thread on here where a lot of people wanted him sacked. Do we not think players and management read these boards? He had a divided support so he done the right thing and got out.

I'd love a chance to thank him for what he's done. The Mcginn song was getting a bit tedious towards the end of the season and I felt more chants about our manager was deserved

His business with us has been concluded. However, if he wishes to attend the game, he is more than welcome to get in touch with the ticket office.

Get used to it. Any half decent managers that come our way will do that.

If you really wanted someone at halftime of that game, I rather have our previous cup winning captains. Have Rob Jones walk around and take a picture with David Gray, maybe have Lewis in the picture, etc...

Stubbs will always be warmly welcomed back however it is far too early for his return. We have moved on and Lennon is an exciting appointment and now must have our full support.

Stubbs can PATG for this one. Since he's the cup winning manager I'll allow him to skip the loyalty points system though.

Time to focus on what Lennon can do for the club.

Stubbs is the manager of another team now.

He's moved on and so should we.

He'll always be welcome at ER just shouldn't be the the focus of attention at this one nor do I think he would want to be.

Alan Stubbs will forever be welcomed at Easter Road, but wheeling him out in front of us on the pitch would simply be awkward for Neil Lennon.

Roxyhibee
11-06-2016, 04:26 PM
Jeezus Christ no man.! Love Stubbs for giving us that day but Lennon is far more important now.

Let him come up and draw the Half Time Hibby later this season once Neil has clinched us the Championship title.

We used to say "In Stubbs we trust" and I'm sure he'd consider it to be entirely inappropriate for him to even consider a return visit so soon after his departure for pastures new.

I don't think Lennon's first competitive match in charge is the best time to have Stubbs coming back to attend a game however I would have no problem with it happening at some point in the future, in fact I would actively support such a move.

There's only three people alive today who have won a major honour as Hibs manager and Alan Stubbs is one of them so he deserves to be treated accordingly by everyone at the club.

I'll take him doing the half time draw at the next game against the Rangers being introduced as the Scottish cup winning manager :)

11-06-2016, 04:57 PM
He will always be welcome back at Easter road and I have no doubt he will be back up for our European game anyway but I wouldn't be making a big deal about it and undermining Lennon in his first competitive game with us.

Absolutely not. His time at Hibs ended spectacularly but it is ended nonetheless.

Hi Heid Yin

Alan Stubbs was thanked big time by thousands of us on Cup Final Parade Sunday. He felt our love and gratitude on that day.
No need to keep thanking the man and certainly not this soon with Neil Lennon now in charge.
Maybe on the 10th anniversary of the win, but not before.

Grateful for what he done and won't be forgotten, but as one poster above says he can get a ticket and come and watch if he wants but when did we last invite a Rotherham manager up and give them some special treatment?

He's where he wants to be.

Eyrie

The idea can be ruled out as impractical since Stubbs will have his hands full keeping Rotherham up and won't have the time for a trip to see us.

No ....... Until further notice this is all about Neil Lennon and shoving Stubbsy down his throat two seconds after he is in the door would be utterly disrespectful. Stubbs would be the first to acknowledge that and would 100% turn down such an invitation.

That being said ............. I simply cant believe folk on here who seem happy to dismiss Stubbs as 'just another manager who chose to jump ship' ... unbe****inglievable !!! The guy is and always will be welcome at Easter Road any time he wants .... he is now a club legend and deservedly so.

I know what you mean, but for a start it wasn't his first chance. He goes with my best wishes although I would have loved him to stay and get us promoted. There are no hard feelings from me. I personally would love the opporchancity- shall we say- to shake his hand and wish him all the best.

He has left us on a upward curve- that's a rarity for a hibs manager.

Onwards and upwards :)
