What a complete mess to make of a straightforward knock-out cup competition. Regionalised through all rounds so I assume the 2 Welsh clubs will play each other and the 2 NI clubs will play each other.

Regionalised in rounds 1-3. Welsh and Irish don't join until round 4.

I'm not sure what the complaints are all for. Some folk don't like change I guess but fair play to the SFA / SPFL for trying to freshen things up.

Neil Doncaster, SPFL Chief Executive, said: “This is another exciting day for Scottish football with the announcement of this exciting new format of the Scottish Challenge Cup demonstrating further innovation and forward-thinking for the game in this country.

I don't see what the big problem is, it's unlikely to be anywhere near the top of Lennon's priority list however if it gives the club the chance to earn some extra money from gate receipts, chance to blood some youngsters and more importantly an opportunity to attend an away tie in Wales or Ireland then all good!👍

Regionalised in rounds 1-3. Welsh and Irish don't join until round 4.

Draws will be regionalised throughout the competition, and seeded from Rounds 1-3 only.

I think they have done the right thing here. I just wish our first team wasn't in it.

Right enough. Must be Wales v Wales and Ireland v Ireland then in round 4.

Ramsdens/Petrofac.

The cup rangers have knocked us out of in pre season the last 2 years.

I actually think its a decent idea.

It gets teams from lower down the pyramid system the chance to potentially play against the top teams in the country , albeit in some cases the under 20s sides , and also offers the chance for a potential away trip down to Wales or Northern Ireland. Much better than the previous setup.

I think it's good we're trying something new and also it's another way to bring something different to the table for tv companies.

These are the things that need to happen to push Scottish football on.

what happens if hibs play their under 20 squad against say hearts/celtic u20s and get beat? The fixture would still read Hibs v Hearts/celtic U20s - would never hear the end of it!

300 miles and 5 hours further than Stranraer.

Crap beer and full of folk with funny accents. But that's Stranraer for you.
