Aw Andy, after we spend all that time getting him fit?!

I think there is very little chance of Stokes coming to us. He'll want more money than we can afford. If he did, it would probably be in September once other opportunities have dried up... and he might not be in the greatest frame of mind if that happens.

Stokes has 'Stubbs syndrome' anything he does at Hibs, and Scottish football in general will be an anti climax now. Let them ply their trade in England. I trust Lenny to put out a side capable of getting us up.

Rotherham more likely.

Not sure . He's worked with Lennon and would be treated like a legend if he signed for Hibs.
I have a feeling we will be investing in the squad.
Stokes would be a massive statement.

Not sure how much Rotherham would pay him compared to Hibs.

jgl07

Rotherham more likely.

It would be a bad mistake. He has flopped in the Championship before. He did 12 games on loan for Sheffield United without scoring and 13 games for Crystal Palace scoring one goal.

Probably double or triple what we can afford, but with the career he has had, I doubt he's short of money. Take the wages away, I think he chooses us over Rotherham every time.

safe to say Lennon will be able to sell him a similar scenario to himself... i'll make you my no.9, we''ll go up and see whats what. Also - if Stokes did sign a 2 year deal say and end up top goalscorer next year, he'd earn a £1M+ move for us you'd think.

I reckon hibs will be a high profile team next year... who the **** are rotheram?

He'll be gutted, Celtic are 'his' club.

Without him we don't win the Cup, always a Legend. Also can't believe Andys comments. I honestly can't remember a bad game he had since he came back. A consummate professional ON the pitch and if his goal scoring record wasn't as good as we had expected that had a lot to do with early lack of match fitness and the slump in our collective form later on.

.Sean.

As much as Stokes became a legend in the final, he didn't score enough in the league and we do need someone different to work with Cummings, didn't always work with them. We need width and pace in our team, Commons would be a perfect playmaker, scores and creates.

When discussing signing him or not it's quite relevant if there were negatives.

He'd be biggest earner by some distance I'd imagine so would it be worth it? I don't think so on his league form.

It's unlikely but his reason for signing for us last season was he wanted to stay in Scotland and we were his preferred destination.

If he feels that's more important than money we may have a shot. If the reality of signing for us without his Celtic wage hits home financially then we don't.

To be fair, his last 5 or 6 games with us he was the by far the hardest working in the team. He wasn't scoring goals cause he was coming deep and trying to make things happen. The final was a different level though.

I spoke to Stokes at the sponsors lunch the day after the final and i'd be surprised if he came back here.

He didn't enjoy the league at all and he said to me 'the teams just don't want to play football'.

He was incredible against Sevco and genuinely put in one of the best performances i've ever seen in a cup final, but let's be honest, if hadn't been for that performance he'd have been judged as a flop as he really struggled in this league.

I'd rather he went South.

Lennon is on not much more than Stubbs. The difference is there is a clear wage structure for players. If you break that the cost model goes out the window. Its how we don't end up that Them and The Others.
