On a serious note, El Alagui is off judging by the interview with him saying he is looking for a new club...

Sam Stanton
Danny Handling
Alex Harris
Jordan Forster
Lewis Allan
Oli Shaw
Jamie Insall

+ others I am missing no doubt.

Surely at least two or three can be part of the first team set up this coming season? Our restructured football department has been in place for two years now - I am impatient to see some more kids break through.

I hope all these guys start with a clean slate (from both new management team and fans) and have an opportunity to prove their worth.

Sam stanton, Danny Handling and alex Harris have all had their chance in my opinion. Only real question I ever had with regards to stubbs signings was giving Danny a 4 year contract.

36 and not played in years. Would imagine any return would be purely for emotional reasons for himself and be at a very low standard. Good luck to him though after what hes been through. Would be a nice gesture if he was offered use of training facilities.

I know that McKinnon had him lined up on a pre-contract for Raith but you can get out of those.

I'd have thought he'd have taken him up to United if he could, the two were together at Brechin before.

Read last week that we are after Denny Johnstone along with Dundee United and Kilmarnock.

Saw Johsntone a coup,e of times other than Hibs games last season and thought he was decent.

Declan McManus could be worth a shout. Was at Aberdeen, went on loan to Morton, had a cracking spell, AAberdeen wanted him back but he went to Fleetwood. Didn't work out so he went back to Morton in January last season.

If it didn't work out for him at Fleetwood would maybe consider him. Apologies for putting this on a rumour thread!

So why are they putting him out on loan?

Seemingly on a good wage, doubt we could afford him even as a loan player.

Infact, I would rather we steered clear of loan signings and started building a squad on long term contracts for the future of the club.

Thought about Samaras earlier on today, as you say Lennon rated the big chap, always started the big games, holds the ball up well and he does put a shift in doing that one man upfront job, not to sure Lennon would be keen to bring Stokes to Hibs, not sure Lennon is a big fan of him.

We need 9 in IMO. As it just so happens we've lost 9.
Required:- Keeper, left back, right back, 2 centre halfs, 2 strikers (one target man), creative goal scoring CM and quality winger prefers left.

Out of that 9 be happy for Logan, Gunnarson, Hanlon,Forster, Henderson & Stokes to be coming back leaving need for just 3 - New target man, CM & winger (with blistering pace)

Election Alagui, Thomson & Dagnall thanks for the memories.

(Realise we won't be able to re-sign those 6, just my ideal scenario)

09-06-2016, 06:02 PM
Never heard of josh falkingham but I seen he is another centre midfielder, will he be any better than what we currently have?

i would like us to add a bit more experience in the midfield and striker areas.

wingers are essential and we should look to bring in one or two

a big big physical striker is needed.

also think we need a new competition at both full back areas.

Could it be that the reason why the season ticket payment plan was pushed forward by a whole six (!?) weeks - aside from Lennon joinging - is that we're expecting to make some big signings over the next few weeks (possibly after the Euros)? I mean, why extend it for so long if not to be able to announce new signings before the deadline?

Insall hopes to be a squad player this season. Henderson will sign. Forster is back. so 2 more and we are back to normal.

I also expect to see Martin back in the squad...and Lewis Allan. Plenty options now they have had a year extra experience.

A fit Carmichael after a decent rest...

Suddenly looks a healthier position. We need a quality attacking midfielder for sure (wide player)

If we get Carmichael fit he will do plenty of damage. Scott Martin is also quality and i fully expect him to be a top class player for us. Install unproven at this level...but worth a shot as 3rd striker. Obv if Cummings goes Lennon will be looking for proven Striker to replace him.

3 players max for me. We'll see a change in urgency under Lennon and probably a fair few more goals.

I'm not liking the way Dempster talked about a 'couple' of signings this year. We need a lot more than that. Hopefully just a phrase.Leeann is not going to give away all our plans! I have liked the way Hibs have done their transfer business since she arrived. It's up to us to speculate, but I would not read too much into that statement!

For me next season:

GK: SIGNING, Oxley

RB: Gray, SIGNING
CB: McGregor, Forster
CB: Hanlon*, Fontaine
LB: Stevenson, Crane/Mackie

RCM: McGeouch, Martin
DM: Bartley, Fyvie
LCM: McGinn, Stanton

CAM: SIGNING, Handling

ST: Cummings, Keatings
ST: SIGNING, SIGNING

5 signings need, assuming Hanlon & Forster stay on.

In an ideal world: Paul McGinn, Commons, & Stokes, Target Man & Experienced Keeper.

Have Boyle and Carmichael left ?

Will be a couple of factors here.

1. Lennon is doing his punditry stuff.

I'm sure at some point Neil will sit down with Graeme Mathie and go over the players on the Hibs radar.

Was out of contract this year, not sure what month though. Think Rangers are interested. Would be an incredible signing were we able to make it happen, we've been rumoured to be after him for what seems like an age now. In January I heard he would jump at the chance to join us - not sure if that's still the case or not.

He's 19 now, the same age Henderson was when he arrived this time last year. It's time for Martin to step up big time and claim a place in the team. Make it very hard for the manager to drop him. At this age he needs games more than anything else.

Very true, it's up to them to show what they can do, Henderson is only a year or so older but is way ahead in terms of ability and experience, that should be his aim, which also goes for any of the younger players.

Think the alloa game was when he was played on the left wing/wingback with playing 3 centre halfs. He was excellent that day but was equally poor in some of his other couple performances. Hopefully if he can stay fit hell start to shoe the best of his abilities reguarly.

One of the things we all seem to be universally agreed upon is that we lacked a big lump up front at times last season.

He won't be as mobile as he once was but that's not to say he might still be an effective player.

I still think Mixu was an inspired signing, one of the best we ever made. Yet I remember my brother doing his nut when he found out we'd signed an overweight thirty-something striker who had never even had pace in the first place.

Not saying I'm wetting my knickers with excitement about the prospect, I just don't think it's as mad as it sounds, on several levels.

Your right but I have the wrong Muirhead. Robbie Muirhead has signed for Hearts. Dundee United last season and I think he was at Killie before that. Attacking midfielder.

Boy might be OK but shows the type of player they are going for now. They'd never have considered anyone like this 5 years ago.

Is this a wind up ?? Surely that's not the standard we are hoping for to win the league ....from Stokes to Nade. What a backward step that would be

Nade caused most other teams in the Championship problems last season. If we had been promoted then I agree no chance. To get us out this league, on a 12 month deal, in my opinion, he would do us a turn.

I mentioned him, he's been released and is free however his goal to game ratio isn't the best. He's had a decent career giving the fact he hasn't scored much!

100%. It's as bad as the new manager thread. I've only just got over the disappointment of Taylor Swift not getting the job.

Mind the days before the internet. We just thought most of these moments of rubbish and then they passed. Then we'd go and get the evening news for any info on signing targets, scores etc. Teletext kind of changed everything.
I'm glad we have the net now. It's most entertaining.

TBF the majority were youth players and Stubbs wouldn't have a lot to say about them, Stokes, Henderson, Logan, Dagnall, Gunnarsson, Farid etc, were all either loans or at the end of their contracts.

I see Celtc are now being described as Steven Fletcher's 'boyhood heroes'. This is them 'stepping up' their attempt to sign the player... despite the fact he's a Liverpool fan.

Is LG and SF the ideal partnership? Both left footers - not sure about that at all.

Am sure the more left footers at Celtic the better as far as they are concerned ;-)
