Well? It would be tempting to go for the SC to rub Yam faces in it, but it would never as good the second time and we need to be up.

Why not the Europa League as well, for good measure? Seriously though, we have to get out of this league or we'll become marooned. Woops that's for the other side of the city!

I've been following Hibs for 50 years and in that time we have won (only) 4 major trophies. I don't view the championship as a major trophy, so for me, I'd take the Scottish Cup.

However, unfortunately no one is offering us the choice - we need to play well and earn whatever comes our way.

League.

The last few years have seen a lot of teams have their day in the cup. They are there for the winning for teams outwith the former OF now. Get back into the top league and we could well have our day a bit more often than we have been used to.

Seriously now, Hibs are not likely to stay in the Europa League for long. But hopefully it will mean that they are ahead of the rest of the Championship in terms of match fitness.

Hit the ground running in the Championship and the thing could be done and dusted before the Scottish Cup starts in January.

Hibs don't have to worry about the League Cup for a while as they will be exempted through to the third round. That mean one match to the quarter-final and two to the semi-final.

The Challenge Cup can present an opportunity for the fringe players from the first team squad along with some of the youth team. This competition was not run when Hibs were previously relegated and this time they have drawn Rangers in the first round twice.

Hibs seemed to cope well last season, despite a dreadful start in the League, until February and March when the effects of the League Cup Semi-final against St Johnston and the replayed Scottish Cup matches against Hearts and Inverness took their toll.

When McLeish won promotion for Hibs they had no extended cup runs. The Challenge Cup did not run. Hibs won away to Hamilton and beat Aberdeen in the League Cup before being hammed away at St Johnston. They went out of the Scottish Cup at Stirling in a replay.

Hibs do need some income from cup runs to balance the books so it would be stupid not to go for everything.

I fancy retaining the Cup, but after coming 2nd in League behind Queen of the South we get to play off final, and either side of the Scottish Cup Final sees a 1 - 0 win for Falkirk then a 2-1 victory for us courtesy of the softest penalty ever awarded to propel us back to the top flight.

How are Falkirk going to get to the playoff final when Hibs will be playing a current Premiership side should they progress?

My desire to inflict misfortune to Peter Houston has clouded my thought process obviously. I'll settle for that outcome in the semi, then beat Hearts in final over two legs and 5-1 on aggregate.

In order of importance:

Championship
Scottish Cup
League Cup
Europa League
Petrofac

Petrofac should be fringe players and young guys only.
Realistically we are unlikely to get more than a couple of games out of the Europa league so enjoy the experience and set us up for the league campaign.
League cup - we're halfway to the final already so we've done ourselves a big favour in skipping the group stages. potential for games against decent opposition or maybe even a Derby so worth making the effort for.
Scottish Cup - We've waited long enough for one, why not have two.
Championship - no playoffs, this league must be won and i would like to think we could do it in style, undefeated season out of the question?

I would have said promotion even if we hadn't won the Scottish Cup a few weeks ago but now that we've done it, I'm even more inclined to say promotion.

We absolutely must be back in the top league in order for this club to realise its full potential. We are not going anywhere fast whilst stuck in the Championship.

The championship has to be the priority ... cup runs would be nice, but we must concentrate fully on going up and if that means resting players or not risking guys with slight injuries in cup ties so be it.

If we don't go up I would accept winning the Europa league as consolation :greengrin

Not to sound too dramatic, but it'll be a catastrophic disaster if we're not promoted this season. As a result, genuinely believing the club will win the title with ease........ And so, another Scottish Cup would do too.

So........, both then?

Aye.

Maybe CG or CWG would know but what were our losses for the season since we did not get promoted? How much did the two Cup Finals make up for that? Obviously we aren't going to get to finals every year, but I'm also struggling with the concept that we must get back to the top flight to play against Partick Thistle, Kilmarnock etc etc. If we do finish mid-table it's also not going to be any fun reading about how s***e we are from our resident hysterical's any time we lose to one of those clubs.

100% promotion. We're the only team outside the Old Firm (I think) to have won both major cup competitions in Scotland in the past 9 years. Been brilliant to see that, and would be great to win either of them again, but right now - we need to get back to where we belong!

Anyone who makes Cup wins priority before promotion should wake up and smell the coffee. If we don't get promotion this season, Lennon will be sacked (even if we win a cup trophy). We can't afford a fourth season in the Championship, both in terms of finance and credibility as a team that belongs in the Premiership. I'd love to pick up a Cup along the way but anything short of promotion is nightmare scenario.

HiBremian

Championship, no doubt. But to win the thing, for once we need a strong start to the season, so when we have our first defeat we're already well ahead of the rest. Manage that and the cups will take care of themselves.

If we are in the Championship for another ten years, you can give up on your dream of winnng Cups every other year. We can not exist as a Championship club for another year, far less ten years, and keep the club running as it is. We would have to downsize - what a sh*tty prospect. I am becoming more and more depressed at the increasing desire of our supporters to give up on promotion for the instant fix of a Cup. ( Yes, I'm over the moon like everyone at what we achieved this year, but let's get our fresh priorities back on track ). I am just as depressed to think that I could be in a minority of supporters who care about our status in the SPFL.

About six weeks ago I was on here saying It's the Cup for me all the way, however all the energy must now be focused on the League campaign whatever it takes. In saying that I have nothing against a good Cup run either one will do. Must be the League though 110% especially now that we have hibsed it and won the Cup against the odds of being in the Championship (couldn't help but have a wee dig at the hertz there as they began taunting us with hibsing it in the very year we went on to break the curse LOL).

I'd love both but it has to be promotion this seasonAs our new head coach has said, more or less this "promotion is the goal, but winning a few trophies on the way would be good", so that shows the aims and ambitions!
