A "glamour" friendly against Real Madrid isn't too much to ask for, is it?

Would have loved to go and play Blackpool again - had a great time there a few seasons ago.

Worth remembering that the following week the players and staff will be off to some far flung European outpost, so will be looking to keep all the friendlies fairly local.

Remember we could be away in the 1st leg Europe after the Motherwell game, saving fans money by playing local

Eh? I was suggesting it was more likely he would be there as he was finished at the Euro's prior to preseason. Many on here had been concerned that his Euro commitments would overlap with preseason. Other clubs are going back earlier (Celtic is 20th of June for example), so this suggests to me the club may have pushed back the start of preseason.

You sure that wasn't a reserve game against Rangers at meadowbank??

reason I say that is I skived school that at purely cause McManus was playing! Hibs won 1-0 I think and I was sitting just in front of Collins. McManus went off as a sub.

Your correct, My mistake. That's the only time I've seen hibs play at meadowbank. I was in primary school, couldn't quite remember who it was we played but just assumed it was Edinburgh city. The only reason I went as well was because Tam was playing, Thinking about it JC and Tommy Craig were sitting in front of me that's how I knew he was in charge so it was obviously a reserve game :idiot:

Not sure, 2,000? that's a guess!

Went to see City play a couple of games there, really like City. Depending on how the fixtures go I might get a season ticket for every other game when we're not at Easter Road.

Official capacity is roughly 16K however don't think all of that is seated. The main stand holds 7.5K.

I used to stand outside and watch Meadowbank games back in the day. If we felt brave enough we'd climb the fence and sit in the benches opposite the main stand until we were chased away by the stewards. used to take awhile.

Also went to see Simple Minds after a reserve game between Hibs and Aberdeen at Easter Road. And Prince. Great venue!

Are the terraces/benches at Meadowbank ever used nowadays? Or could they be if required?

We always get a decent travelling support for at least 1 or 2 summer pre season friendlies and with it being a stones throw from ER can see this one being popular.

The wood bench seats were removed a number of years ago, however the metal supports remain in place on the terrace. For this reason, that part of the ground has been off-limits to the public.

All spectators are seated in the main stand.

As an extra incentive to getting a ticket; the steak pies at Meadowbank are brilliant.

Hibernian will face Berwick Rangers, Edinburgh City and Motherwell in our pre-season schedule, as the side prepare for the upcoming season.
First team players will arrive back for pre-season training on Thursday 23 June, as they prepare for these fixtures and their Europa League matches.
Berwick Rangers will host Hibernian at Shielfield Park on Tuesday 5 July with a 7:45pm kick-off, representing the third season in succession that the side have travelled to Berwick-Upon-Tweed as part of their pre-season preparations.
Two evenings later, a short trip to Meadowbank Stadium will be in-store for the Easter Road side, who will face Edinburgh City, who were recently promoted into the Scottish Professional Football League in May, again with the match kicking off at 7:45pm.
Easter Road will stage a match on Sunday 10 July, with Motherwell travelling to Leith for a 3pm kick-off, as the fixtures culminate before the side begin their UEFA Europa League campaign on 14 July..
