At the moment, and it could easily change, Gemmill is the closest in the betting to Neil Lennon. Does anybody know if he's been interviewed for the Hibs job? Apart from his work with the under-17's, I'm not sure really what his credentials are, although obviously remember him as a footballer, son of Archie, etc. How do people on here rate him? He seems at the moment to be a more popular choice than Hughes, McCall, Dickov, McKay etc.

He would be a good assistant but is untried as a manager

Interesting idea.

He's said to be a good coach, so having him as the assistant or a coach would be succession planning for when Lennon moves on. Of course, that assumes that Lennon would want him as part of the staff, and that Gemmill then impresses enough in a supporting role.
