Watching the various Cup Winning celebrations, and in particular the 'Stokesy's On Fire' chant, got me to wondering, who was the first to come up with it...and further has anyone on here been responsible for being the first (or knows someone who was) to sing/chant a Hibs song that has caught on?
Somebody must be...

It was first made by a Wigan supporter as 'Will Griggs on fire' he has also just been given a free ST by Wigan.

My recollection is that we started that day singing it for Stokes, then changed it for Keatings after his double :-D

It was sung for Stokes before the first leg against Falkirk at ER. Looking back, not sure why as he was in the midst of a horrible goal drought [emoji4] All came good in the end though

Mitro's on fire was going months before the Grigg version - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3r5v2u

Allez Allez Allez Au, brought over from Frankfurt to Leith, picked up down south by Everton then adopted up and down Englandshire by loads of different clubs. Unfortunately with the Ally Ally version once the wider Hibs support cottoned on to it.

Here's how it started off at Hibs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmWfcJK52ic

And was sung at Falkirk but for Keatings.:agree: that is when it caught on. we were asking older guys(like us) what the words were, and we all eventually sussed it come half-time and joined in:greengrin. btw, I think the Eintract version of Aez Alez is much better than ours. the young team have changed it to Ally Ally allyoh, and canny even get their mob tae bounce properly:greengrin

I remember hearing the Keatings version at Falkirk and had no idea what our fans were singing, and I'm always embarrassed to ask, as in having to ask what hip record was playing on a record store stereo kind of way.

It's horrible sung like Ally Ally.

Shame, as it started off being sung correctly.

Just after the final whistle I started " not won the big Cup since quarter to 5" and my pals around me joined in....it seemed to swell in the areas around us and then I heard it outside and all that day since......but I bet a few are claiming that one ...it was a no brainier

Correct.

My cousin and his mates started it before the Falkirk games. He's loving that it caught on and expects a free season ticket as well!

And freeman's on fire (Bristol city striker) was sung years before that!
