View Full Version : Did you see that tackle?

Head high and they had the cheek to protest about the red card.

:hilarious

Spoiled the exercise for both teams, but the ref had no real choice.

Edit: Kane has stud marks in his forehead, but he didn't make a meal of it at all. Instead, he got up immediately and tried to get on with the game. Well done, son.

It's a friendly so he should have just asked for him to be subbed instead.

Game ruined a bit now.

You wouldn't think so. I've been watching the snorefest for 79 minutes and if this is all they dish up at the Euro's, I might just give it a miss.

Not really watching this properly, so only just realised that England is in the white. The Portugal strip looks just like England's away strip, and I just assumed that was them. Good to see that it's not just us that suffer the duffness of the Nike template.

Alves could have broken Kanes neck or even killed him. The intent to injure was there for all to see. Unbelievable action from the Portuguese player. Nothing less than a 12 months ban from football and a seriously high fine as punishment.

Unless you're being sarcastic, nah.

It certainly was an idiotic challenge but there was no intent to hurt Kane.

LA Galaxy vs Sporting Kansas. You'll need to stay up late as it's a 3.30 GMT kick off.

Tbf to the guy he does seem to try to pull out of the challenge at the last second. When you see it in slow motion it's the outside of his foot that catches Kane as he kind of curls his foot away to minimise contact.

Still a crazy challenge to even think about going in for though and no idea what he was thinking. Had he not twisted his foot at the last second that could have been nasty. A red card in any game, friendly or otherwise.

Mistimed never a red in a million years.

How would you interpret the laws of the game? I thought it was as serious foul play as you can get, deliberate or not.

Cautionable offences

A player is cautioned and shown the yellow card if he commits any of the following seven offences:
• unsporting behaviour
• dissent by word or action
• persistent infringement of the Laws of the Game
• delaying the restart of play
• failure to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a corner kick, free kick or throw-in
• entering or re-entering the feld of play without the referee’s permission
• deliberately leaving the feld of play without the referee’s permission

Sending-off offences

A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences:

• serious foul play
• violent conduct
• spitting at an opponent or any other person
• denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
• denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
• using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
• receiving a second caution in the same match
A player, substitute or substituted player who h

If Kane had went down and rolled about a bit and made a big deal about it would that given the go ahead for the England fans to come on the pitch to protect there player. :greengrin

Kane is a very lucky lad tonight, that was a shocking tackle, lucky the players studds never took out Kane's eye, total madness to do that in a friendly, but as you say well done to Kane for just getting on with it and not demanding the player should see red, that tackle deserved 5 red cards.
