Yes - any non tried manager would be. He is the cheap option but I guess well known and liked at the club

Huge gamble giving him 4 years. But sometimes these gambles pay off so be interesting to see how they do.

Would not surprise me if they were relegated next season.

Surprised at him getting a four year deal. Why not just two or three at the most. More than likely that he'll get punted before next season is finished and will get a good pay off. Cheap option yes but a big big gamble.

If a crap manager like Butcher can do well there, then he's got a chance

Or maybe the club are looking at having a long term plan, something that a lot of clubs fail to grasp these days, and if Foran is a success, he may just make them a few bob down the line. He's been around the club for a while, having been captain he would have been around the coaching side of things for a couple of years, and will know the players very well.

You might be right. No crystal ball. Only time will tell.

Not surprised they've given him the job but surprised it's a 4 year deal. However, this way it's clear to the players that the board back him and will stand by him if things aren't going well 3/4 months in to next season. Giving him a one or two year deal gives the players more power in that situation IMO.

He's been there since 2009 so he must know the club inside out. No reason to wish him anything other than good luck, especially against the saviles and the weegie sides.

Did he not take over for a few games when Butcher left.

a 4 year deal for a manager is massive, especially given the lack of experience might be a genius move or might blow up in thier face, just have to wait and see.

Something strange in the water up there that seems to make anyone and everyone a good manager. Butcher is the obvious one. Absolutely dire in every single job except ICT. Craig Brewster looked great, moved to Utd and was awful. Never managed since. Christ, even John Robertson done well-possibly one of the worst coaches going. Yogi has struggled at times elsewhere yet achieved legendary status up there.
Richie Foran will no doubt be the next Claudio Ranieri up there [emoji102]

It's the four year deal that's the surprise. Why not just offer him 2 years or even just a rolling contract.

Can't see it being 4yrs both ways on the contract.
Who's to say they don't have a trap door?
He can't leave for 4yrs without the club getting compensation but maybe they can give him 6 months notice.

Publicly it looks like the ICT Board really backing their man but reality if he bombs they have an more affordable exit strategy.
No if it is just a straight 4yrs that is one hell of a gamble.

Surprised at this one to be honest, I have absolutely no knowledge of Foran at all in terms of management/coaching but I will say it's a helluva gamble, I felt they where a decent manager away from being relegation contenders last Season and now they've lost their manager and best player I think they'll struggle, this could be their Tommy Craig moment.

Crazy to offer him a 4 year deal!
