Different format for the new season
We don't go in at this stage because we are Scottish Cup holders and in Europe:na na:

What an over-complicated way of whittling it down to 16 teams.

Start it and finish it early yes...but the middle of July?

Glad we're not involved.

We're still playing in the middle of July...

I hate seeding! Would be entertaining to get a 'group of death'.

Do not like this format at all, maybe it just needs some getting used to.

So Geography is not a strong point ...

Falkirk = North Section

Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire (Ground share in Stehousemuir) = South Section

No Maps at Hampden ??

Dumbarton in the north section as well. Thought it was going to be north, east and west?

We go straight into quarter finals, yes?

Meaning we only have to win 3 games to win the league cup... bit too easy is it not?

If you think that's bad never become an NFL fan. Dallas play in the EAST!!
8 teams plays in west (split into two groups of four)
8 play in east and so on for north and south (for 32 teams)
Dallas is the 8th most west city, 6 most south and 23rd most east

Its to get the balance of the seeds right. They would have selected their first seeds then divided them into north and south then done the same with the second seeds, then the same with the rest.

Something well wrong with your calculations guv.

Quarter finals is last eight.

Four seeded teams including us and eight sections of five.

So The Rangers have 4 league cup games to play before the Scottish Cup champions enter the competition :top marks

Loving the new format :agree:

Bonus point?! Wtf

I really like this idea... I think it sounds cool and something a bit different.

Is the bonus point an additional 1 point on top of the 1 point each for drawing? Or would drawing teams end up with either 0 or 1 point depending?

As an aside, when does the Petrofac cup start, if it does. Will be looking for a new sponsor as Petrofac are falling on harder times, with the oil turndown

Bonus point idea is a mad one but big fan of the rest of it. Presumably The Rangers will miss out on any 'glamour' friendlies as well because of League Cup commitments.

Not really understanding this one. Does it mean both teams get a point for a draw and then a bonus point for winning the penalties? Wouldn't mind a bonus point for scoring three or more goals!!!

It's a product of seeding. The top 16 teams are split between north and south first. There's always going to be the possibility of this kind of anomaly.

Just read through the draw situation. does it mean, that any Draw will go directly to penalties without extra time or do they mean after extra time, penalties will settle it?

I really like this idea. It is about time Scottish Football decided to offer something a bit different especially with the league cup that is always going to be overshadowed by other leagues and cups.

Here's hoping we win! Another chance to win both cups in one year! (on that note Ross County could win the same trophy twice in a year).

Of course what it also means is that the SFA can't now strip Hibs of our European place...
