I didnt realise the gap in prize money was so big in the championship. The difference between 2nd and 3rd is £63k.

I'm sure you would make up some of that difference in the first play off game anyways, for instance 5000 away crowd and 10000 home crowd, 15000 total, at £15 is £225k, clubs get 1/4 of that I'm sure so your talking more than £50k from the first game alone.

Would you not still be losing out an equivalent figure though in comparison to finishing second? ie 2nd gets the additional prize money + the ticket revenue.

No, because 2nd loses out on the ticket money against Raith.

I'd rather take the £63k, give the players 10 days of no matches and avoid having to get past Raith.

I got the impression the clubs involved in the play-offs don't necessarily make much out of the play-offs as the money is largely pooled then used to fund the parachute payments. Hence why clubs are restricted in how little they can charge and why Hibs were prevented from allowing ST holders in for free.

That's where the '50%' goes, the clubs then split the other 50%.

As would we all, although the point was we would lose money by finishing third, when the reality is money wise there isn't much difference at all

Being at home in second leg of semi is another advantage of finishing second

That worked well against Hamilton and Sevco. :boo hoo:

Also finishing second in the league takes away the fear of finishing second in the league, so you can see just how important that is.

Sorry, I thought the suggestion was that the ticket revenue was split between the four teams in the play-offs (so the prize money would still be an additional bonus) but I get it now.

I'm not convinced about that at all.

I would if we were the type of team that builds up lots of pressure leading to the inevitable goal(s). But we're not that type of team.

I would rather a win at ER then play away and try and hit on the break as Falkirk try and break us down.

I wonder if last season would have had a different conclusion if we played The Rangers at home first and won 1-0.

And the few days sunning it in Spain really gets tbem up for the games.

Funny you should say that, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

That twat needs as much misery as possible heaped on him at the end of this season.

Remember - our budget is absolutely f*****g colossal (or something to that effect), so much so that £63k isn't going to make much difference.

Agreed. We went away prior to the League Cup Final. I thought we played really well that day and lost due to a lapse in concentration and then pressing for a winner and being left short at the back. There was certainly no sign of not being up for it or "bottling it".

Take the £63k. Then that pays for team to go on a pointless trip abroad in the sun

The team went to Hampden by bus and did that last time we lost a cup final. Maybe that's why we lost?

I see that Mr Houston, the Falkirk manager has also been very keen to offer his advice to Warburton with regards to keeping his players sharp for the cup final against us.

He knows they lost 2-1 to 10 men with a late goal right? If not I suggest someone tells him. Arsepiece of the highest order.
