Sad to hear. I still quite like the Two Ronnies' humour, however old fashioned now, it was rather witty.

Very sad. Two Ronnies were superb and Corbett always came across as a decent and very witty guy. RIP

The kings of innuendo. Genuinely funny and original.

Despite your lack of inches you were a giant in British comedy.
Just wonderin', will they burn four candles at your funeral?
RIP Ronnie C.

The Two Ronnies was superb, and though Ronnie Barker was doubtlessly the greater comedy talent, wee Ronnie Corbett (other than those terrible monologues in his golf jumpers) was terrific. Sad to hear of his death. RIP.

Saturdays spent watching Hibs in the North Stand Enclosure after a liquid lunch. Quick pint after the game and off home for tea with mostly Hearts-supporting in-laws followed by quality TV - Two Ronnies, Morecambe and Wise, Generation Game etc. Out for a pint later.

You can't go back.

Halcyon days indeed, you only realise how spoiled we were ŵhen you see what passes for prime time Saturday night TV entertainment nowadays. Great that we can still watch some of these old programmes.

I have to tell this story about Boltonhibs, he'd been playing golf and after went to a posh bar in Bolton afterwards. He was at the bar and the bar staff seemed to be ignoring him, every time someone new arrived at the bar they would get served and he'd be ignored.

He was getting quite angry as this had gone on for a good 10 minutes, when he piped up am i ****in invisible here?

A guy who was standing in the queue said to one of the bar staff, you better serve Ronnie Corbett next, he's getting fed up of being ignored.

He had one of those jumpers on. :greengrin

According to his autobiography he only watched hearts because he got tickets through a cousin or something but supported crystal palace.

Supported Palace after he moved down to London, but he was a Jambo all his life; not that it's relevant. The fact he was a Tory upsets me far more :greengrin

RIP

...and a goodnight from him. Goodnight.

Essential Saturday night TV viewing. Has a hoose in Gullane and often bumped into him in the paper shop in the morning whilst on the way to work. He was usually going for a round of golf and I once said "some of us have to work Ronnie." He replied, "Oh but I am working, this is where I get most of my material."
Just a really lovely man.

Notices the story about him selling his (gorgeous) house in Croyden and downsizing so he could give the money to his kids without IHT. What did he do with theGullane house?

I love Gullane.

Used to see him driving around Gullane looked like no one was in the drivers seat!
