Firstly , yes i would rather the kids left their phones behind when going on holiday but we have tried this before with dire consequences :greengrin
My 2 eldest kids would like unlimited data while on holiday in the summer but i am obviously very concerned with the cost.
Currently they are on Talk Mobile and Vodafone contracts which don't end until October and i do not want to upgrade them at the moment.
Can i get a pre paid sim card which will work in these "locked" phones for when we go to the Canaries in the summer?
I have looked online but the sim cards are for unlocked phones.
Vodafone also seems to be an issue as they only offer the £3 per day offer which only covers 100mb per day.
Also , i'm not sure how much they (mostly he) will need or use.
It will be for when he just wants to sit about the pool watching the odd you tube link , facebook video , uploading pictures etc. I realise that there will be wifi available but we all know about holiday wifi:rolleyes:
Can i unlock an iphone currently under contract , use another simcard then return to using my normal sim card when i get home ?

Put your foot down man,no phones on holiday, there's plenty to do without them!
With it being so far into the contract you shouldn't have much of a problem getting codes from the company to unlock them although Vodafone might charge.
As to a SIM. I keep on thinking I should get a Spanish pay as you go but I think they're quite pricey in Spain and the Canarys quite literally a law unto themselves!
For 2 of them it could be an option to unlock one or even use a spare/older unlocked phone on the SIM you choose and use it as a mobile hot spot for the other(s). Be careful though as some SIM deals don't allow them to be used as a hot spot.

The boy is at an awkward age :greengrin
He's at the stage where he gets bored to tears traipsing about with his mum and dad on Holiday.

I'm sure vodafone eurotraveller is £3 a day to use your normal contract? So if you have 2gb for the month it would just use that. I'm sure thats how mines worked last time I was away.
I take it your hotel doesnt have wifi?
Might be worth looking at this - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-roaming-calls#adoneu

Have a look at this if you're looking for multiple connections and unlimited downloads.
Definitely works ok in Europe.

Aye it is.
I don't know why I thought he would need unlimited .
I might just do that with his as he has 500mb but it's still dear at £42 for 14 days.
I thought it would be a simple case of popping in a SIM card :greengrin

Do Vodafone ES do pay as you go sim cards? Might mean you dont need to unlock the phone as its still vodafone?

This.
Or buy an unlocked used MiFi on ebay and stick in either a prepay 3 mobile broadband sim card or a Spanish sim card.
