That's a great Scotland result Away from home especially. People are quick enough to moan about the national team but credits gotta be given when due. Remember the Czechs just finished above the Netherlands in their Euro group!

We've produced a few of these surprise results over the years, and for the size of nation we are and resources we have available, we really are no where near as bad as some will have you think. We don't have superstars but we have a strong team working ethic, with some decent players thrown in.

We had our usual 'so close hard luck' story in the Euro Qualifying, but we're getting closer and with the World Cup Qualifying Campaign ahead I'm confident with the group we're in!

Cmon Scotland.

Friendlies, although of course no where near on the importance level as qualifiers, are far from 'utterly meaningless'. I never knew it wasn't on tv back there. They broadcast it here in the US on ESPN 3 and it was a rather enjoyable watch especially knowing it was on a major network and broadcast to a large US audience.

Also it unfortunately isn't more to do with it. It's there for all to see on any Scotland related threads on here, other message boards, folk you speak to in the street/pub etc that folk love to be negative about Scotland when the bad results come, but when the good ones come people struggle to say anything positive through gritted teeth.

Again, people thrive on negativity in Scotland and it's a pathetic and sad state of affairs.

I really think that we would do well if we had a star player like Wales have, to go with our current organization and graft. A guy that can make the difference in a tight game but small countries only get a guy like that once every 30 years.
Been watching Scotland for since the early 70's and Kenny Dalglish is as close as we have gotten to such a player and even he was accused by Scottish supporters of not playing as well for his country as he did for his club!

Maybe to do with a lifetime of failure. We aren't in a good place just now in Scottish football as our qualifying record shows and our ever plummeting coefficient. Give the fans something to get excited about then they will be there. Simple as. Also get the team spirit that Michael O'Neil has got for Ni then we might get somewhere.

If it wasn't for the goalie Scotland would have lost by about 20. Its a shocking squad full of has beens. Friendlies should be about developing younger players and improving our longer term chances. But they won 1-0 so everyone ignores how poot they were.

Isn't that the point of having a goalkeeper? Absolutely hate when people come out with guff like this, you have a world class goalkeeper to stop shots, you have top class strikers to put the ball in the net, they all have their jobs and are all as important as each other.

Totally agree. Great result and a good performance from about 25 minutes on. Great to see Snodgrass back as he was a huge miss in the previous qualifiers. We should get a decent amount ranking points for that win as well. Hopefully we'll rack up some more next week against Denmark.

To be perfectly honest i never really watch the under 21s, I decided to watch this game because of Henderson and Cummings.

The keeper who's apparently on Hearts books kept the score down to a respectable score, otherwise we could have been slaughtered.

The gulf in class was huge.

Have ben to a few under21 games because they play at st mirren park Was going to go to game midweek and probably still will
Have seen some decent performances in parts of games but i don't see a conveyor belt of young talent that look like breaking into full team
But thought Henderson would do well so will go and see how he gets on
