FFS, isn't medical science amazing.
IDS has just had a conscience transplant.

Aye, I just said as much on the Budget thread. For him to be attacking welfare cuts as unfair speaks volumes about just how egregiously unjust Osborne's plans are. It's common knowledge the two of them hate each other, and perhaps there's more to this than meets the eye, but it makes Osborne look a right James Hunt - which he is of course.

First significant milestone in this Conservative government's schism over Europe. It's hard to imagine the cracks won't continue to grow and widen.
Not suggesting IDS wasn't motivated, rightly or wrongly, about welfare reform.
Nor ignoring the power battles between Treasury and DWP.
He could have resigned on the above two points before now. The timing, now we are expecting an EU referendum is critical. The deeper, underlying tension here is about who people think should govern them. IDS was fighting this battle twenty years ago, it's a matter of conscience for him.
He's an ineffctual theorist. Glad to see the back of him.

Is that also rhyming slang?
He's a heartless baldy fud who has spent six years victimising the vulnerable. Now he says he's seen the light and we aren't "all in it together" after all. And this just weeks ahead of the EU referendum. Hmmmm........:cb

If this is not motivated by the EU referendum then I'm a Tory voter.
Dangerous times for them as as the referendum gets nearer the divisions will get greater.

It's whether they'll be able to heal the divisions after the vote. If we're out of the EU, we'll be in all sorts of trouble.

Not like me to take Ronaldo's side but yes he's right we would be in all sorts of trouble. The first thing you will see is the stock markets tank into an even worse recession than 2007. Then the job losses, the price hikes, the corporate relocations and the protests.
The EU is far from perfect, it's behaviour towards Greece was inexcusable and many parts of it are dysfunctional. By staying in we have a chance to try to fix that. Running away from it would be an act of stupid self harm motivated by little more than right wing xenophobia and prejudice which ultimately will solve nothing and make the UK an international outcast.

We'd be left in the mid atlantic all alone. left to the vagaries of the tory party who's just ripped itself apart.
That would not be a pretty place to be imho.:aok:
