Really devastated after that, really devastated.

Think that result has put us back I just don't have the appetite anymore
We just didn't look capable of scoring a second and we seem to find new ways to et the support down

2nd half maybe. 1st half McGinn was the best player on the park.

No way was he the best player on the park at any time

Was he on the park??

Game passed him by so much, this should have been the day for him and henderson to shine

Probably correct. Jackson Irvine was impressive. A cracking box to box player with some decent skill an aw

I agree mate. Always feel he plays better in the 2nd half of games but not today. Looks tired

For me though Boyle for Thomson around 70 mins would have been the correct sub. They looked tired too and boyles pace could have been the difference

Said last week he needed to be man marked - he wasn't - he ran the midfield. God knows what Stubbs's analysts do but any player, pundit and commentator would tell you his influence on the way County play.

Sometimes you have to recognise a strength in opposition and negate it - I'm sure we were in for Irvine too (before he chose County). Great player.

It seems an obvious thing to do but don't know why Stubbs didn't pick up on it unless he did and the players didn't follow instructions?

My own thoughts are he probably wanted to allow Irvine to do his stuff as it creates space and if they lose possession there's a vast area to counter through the middle. However I'd have definitely man marked him. Hibs are frail at the back minus Hanlon - hence Ross County won. We chanced our arm thinking it would go to extra time - then lost focus.

You could be right though that's a gamble allowing Irvine freedom. He's a decent player and I wouldn't have give him space and time either.

Fear for the rest of the season now.

I said before game I was more concerned with being promoted than winking a cup but just totally gutted after that

:agree: with the second bit.

You've got to try and win the game in 90 minutes, unless you are Italy in the World Cup. I thought we lost the initiative when the subs started being made. We should have accepted it wasn't working up front and been braver.

Irvine was man marking McGinn most of the game, but I guess he got free when they countered.

Promotion has to be the aim - the cups have been a bonus but our injuries to vital players is costing us at the business end.

Saying that, we're still in the Scottish Cup and it's a game we can win midweek. I'm worried players like McGinn and Henderson now dip due to today's disappointment - crucial that our experienced guys lift the team and focus.

Not convinced with team selection or tactics today, but if Fyvie had played instead of Katie I reckon we'd have been lifting that cup.

Katie had real quality when younger but doesn't offer much of anything going forward now.

And if Dylan had been fit...

Sick and tired of seeing thousands of Hibbies travel to Hampden only to be let down and return with nothing. I must have seen us lose four of five times the number of games we've won there. It's a pish record.

Lately all I've seen Hibs do is play across the park, left to right and back, then try and on occasion dribble into box for a close range shot by which time opposition have got everyone behind the ball. We don't break at speed, as RC did, because there is a lack of pace in the first picks, Boyle should be getting more match time even though he blows hot and cold.
Like others I fear for rest of the season, can't see the players looking forward to ICT mid week and play offs, could be as last year.

The players may use the disappointment as a spur to get back there again quickly. We've missed Fyvie and a fit McGeouch but Hanlon is the biggest miss for me.

Inverness are beatable but like us they ain't got their shooting boots on - we need to go there and not feel sorry for ourselves.

I'll go for a Hibs win to lift everyone's mood.

Bitterly disappointing yet again, but no lack of effort from Hibs, we were just not good enough where it mattered - up front. That puts HUGE pressure on the whole team and encourages the opposition, as it did today with RC. County are a well organised but poor quality side who had 2 immense pieces of luck for both their goals, and that was enough to win the cup.

It was also a huge match for Stubbs. A few weeks ago his stock was riding high and he was a hot prospect for the Celtic job. No wins and 4 defeat in the last 5, when it really matters, will have lots of people questioning his credentials. Pressure is most certainly on.

Was a sickener but we didn't play badly in my opinion. County had the game plan of nullifying our midfield and it worked but also meant they created little either.

At 1-1 it was always going to be the next goal that decided it.

Still, we have to pick ourselves up and play ourselves out of this slump. Inverness would be a good place to start.

God it ****ing hurts. No denying it, we are all hurting. I'd rather get hammered than lose like that, played generally very well and I can fault no players effort. 1 or 2 struggled to get into the game, 1 or 2 made costly errors but they will get no grief from me, they got us that far and deserve nothing but our support now more than ever.

Witch hunting and scapegoating can wait until the final whistle of the last game, until then we've gotta keep plugging away starting with ICT on Wednesday.

That being said, I wouldn't start those 2 up front together again, no chemistry at all.

Traveled from California. Thought we were better side. Caught on break which was their game plan. Fans around me were great fortunately none of the clowns I'm reading about elsewhere.
Really hurts not to win that.
Can we salvage the season, need couple players back as few today looked shot after 60.
Always GGTTH

Aye, Bartley and Henderson were the only two who played good enough today.

Agree. Once Henderson puts on a bit of muscle he'll be a top player.....for somebody else.

:agree: That's the sixth League Cup final I've seen Hibs lose, (won three) and it doesn't get any easier to stomach. Two to Celtic, one to Rangers, one to Aberdeen, one to Livingston, and now again today. As far as the Scottish Cup is concerned, forget that.

Hibs weren't favourites against Celtic or Rangers (or even against Aberdeen in 1985) in the above mentioned finals, but the losses against Livingston and now Ross County today is s****. Ross County are not a good side, and of course win their first major trophy against Hibs.

Hibs lost today because they had no cutting edge. That inability to translate lots of possession into goals, plus their old failing of gifting their opponents ridiculous cheap goals. Two of them today.

F****** gutted.

I said on Friday that as long as we got what we deserved, I could take it - so finding this very difficult.

Thought we were the better side by a fair bit, but counts for nothing at the end of the day, sadly.

We lost because we scored less goals than the opposition, we should have scored more and we definately had more chances but our combination in the final quarter of the field was woeful. I don't believe our strikers or midfield are bad but they need to learn to work together in the oppositions box.
