See the SPFL have opened a massive can of worms IMO, Shinnie was booked, wrongly, for diving, which has now been rescinded 'on appeal'... If this is indeed the case, surely it gives clubs the right to appeal any red card... Never heard of this happening before.

He appealed the yellow card though not red.

He appealed the yellow card though not the red which only came as a result of the second yellow I presume.

I've never heard of anyone being able to appeal yellow cards though is my point.

But you can't appeal a yellow, unless it results in a red

My understanding was you couldn't appeal a yellow even if it resulted in a red...

Me too, but Scouse seems to think you can

I'd love to know when, not saying your wrong but you always hear people stating you can't appeal yellows.

Apparently yellow cards for simulation can be appealed.

Apparently yellows for simulation can be appealed.

Simulation and mistaken identity I think are the only reasons.

Ffs can of worms indeed. Always remember Darren Fletcher being booked at the Emirates in the semi of the champs league for a tackle. He quite clearly won the ball. Was suspended for the final in Moscow as a result. Utd tried desperately to appeal it as the evidence was there, but they lost. So you can appeal yellows for diving then?

You cannot appeal a yellow card. The only way out is if the referee looks again at an incident and he withdraws the card. He is the only one that can do this.

Winning the ball doesn't mean a foul wasn't committed.

Same thing, you appeal to the referee.

You're right, however in this case it did.

Didn't Garry O'Connor have a booking for diving rescinded in his second stint at Hibs?

Diving - 'simulation' - is the only yellow card offence that can be appealed under SFA rules.

Pretty sure Aberdeen successfully appealed a yellow card for simulation shown to one of their players in a youth match a few months back.

Scouse is 100% correct, only simulation and mistaken identity yellows can be appealed.
Its does not have to equal a red either although often it will as the effort to appeal is generally not worth it unless a player is going to serve a suspension.
