I've heard it was down in London with Stokes on Saturday night, and until I see a photo of the pitch holding a newspaper in Hampden stadium, them I'm not going to be convinced it's not true. No smoke without fire.

We will probably be the guinea pigs for the Rantic semi final.

Its so big and wide that you literally need Sproule on a motorbike to get up and down it. Those that smoke will struggle.

It was ripped up at the weekend so 7 days to bind should be interesting come Sunday.

I would imagine it looks more green but hopefully it's not an issue and doesn't affect the quality of the game.

No pictures published on social media yet..

Maybe they've stuck in a 4G surface to wind up Warburton!

Didn't think Dumpden was much bigger than our own Easter Road pitch.

Hampden : 115 x 75 yards
Easter Road: 112 x 74
Ibrox : 115 x 78
Parkhead: 105 x 68
Killie : 115 x 74
tincastle : 107 x 74

Is Parkhead really that small??? Seems odd. And I thought I saw Tynecastle as 112 x 72 somewhere.

Is it possible to have a pitch smaller than the Asbestos Arena and still be allowed to play professional football on it? .... are you sure those dimensions are correct?

It's well out of date. They have the PBS capacity at over 18k. It hasn't been that for over 10 years. I think their pitch is only 64m wide. The bare UEFA minimum. I also think the ER dimensions are wide of the mark.

Heres the minimum and Maximum dimensions -

The length of the touch line must be greater than the length of the goal line.

Length (touch line):
* minimum 90 m (100 yds)
* maximum 120 m (130 yds)

Width (goal line):
* minimum 45 m (50 yds)
* maximum 90 m (100 yds)

All lines must be of the same width, which must be not more than 12 cm (5 ins).

International matches
Length:
minimum 100 m (110 yds)
maximum 110 m (120 yds)

Width:
minimum 64 m (70 yds)
maximum 75 m (80 yds)

If that's the picture on Monday then we have a nightmare looming.

Said on another thread - you need 3 weeks to bind and become stable and I'm this climate it might take longer.

They were meant to replace it from Saturday night but looks like it started on Monday. Probably finished by Tuesday night so 4.5 days. Joke.

Heard Tam Cowan say they keep it elsewhere waiting. Possibly Amsterdam. So wonder if that's why they're so confident about it.

They're maybe just slow on the uptake as they obviously publish the unit of measurement in use when the ground was built. In the case of Hertz, they've had to work up from cubit, foot and hand :greengrin

Yup these dimensions look well out of date. From SPFL website;

In metres, Easter Road, Celtic Park, Ibrox, Hampden are all 105m x 68m (intentional size pitch).

The PBS - the smallest pitch in the Premier League at only 100m x 64m. Without knocking down and rebuilding the meccano in the corners of the stadium they can't redevelop the stadium to meet UEFA/FIFA standards.

Indeed. Ok for Europa League but no good for Champs League. Not that the second bit will ever matter for them ☺

The wee team (yams) have the smallest pitch in the league. Tynie is tiny.

Hibs on the other hand have a full international compliant pitch :)

No mystery if the Yams are giving their numbers in a different format to everyone else. They live to represent everything about their club as bigger than it actually is. A yard is smaller than a metre, so giving pitch size in that way makes it seem bigger to casual onlookers than it actually is.
